And Columbia has TMP, and has done pretty well by it.
On my old Motorola E816 cellphone, I hacked it and replaced the power-up sound with the TOS communicator call beep followed by the chirp. I could time it so that I'd flip open the lid when the sound effect kicked in--real Trek nerd."Ruk Unleashed" from "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" is still one of my favorite pieces. It got re-used in several episodes, all to great effect. All I need is to make it a ringtone on my cellphone, and my life would be complete![]()
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in appreciating the music soundtracks of the original Star Trek series. Some of it is a bit dated, but most of it is really quite good. In fact, I have listened to a recent composition by an American composer and I swear that some of it influenced him (at least for a passage or two).

If you are obsessed with the minutiae of Trek music over all the series in movies (as I am), then I highly recommend seeking out a copy of "The Music of Star Trek." This is one of the most comprehensive publications dedicated to the topic. Interviews, music sheets, TOS music score lists, track lists for select TOS episodes, and a complete list of commercially available scores as of 1999. The author, Jeff Bond, currently contributes some articles to the Trekmovie site.

Had this beauty for years. Sadly, Mr. Bond will not be updating it since the financial returns would not make it worthwhile (he has said as much). It's a shame, there was a lot of good music after the book was written that I would love his insights on. But there you are.
