I spend that on books in a month.Just promise you won't come after me when you spend hundreds of dollars because you have to get all the books.

Well, not "nice," but... well, you know what I mean.

Presumably, I'll learn more about this in Reaper Man.Nice.This would be my interpretation of DEATH

Actually you'll be surprised just how nice DEATH is. Pratchett all but makes him loveable. Especially the Death of . . . well I better not give anything away.

My latest painting is more an attempt with some texture. I wanted to add oomph to the sky so I piled on the paint:
Sadly texture loses a lot when you try to make it 2D with a picture.
^^ True. However, in this case, the heavy texture gives a nice impression of a threatening storm lumbering over the horizon and overwhelming the sky. If that was the intent, then it works very well.![]()
I haven't done any painting in a good long while, in fact no serious non-digital art in almost a year now. I kind of miss the physical mediums, but the control freak in me likes the undo button a little too much.
Some great stuff in this thread from all of you.
I'm working on some (mostly)3d stuff for a video game project at the moment, nothing too terribly impressive, but I'm getting a lot more confident with it and I'm surprised at how much better I am now after not doing this sort of thing for several years.
Elf-like person
Monster
Tile-able textures for environments
Well, I like stormy weather, so it kind of is.It's not a happy painting is it? He he he.
Nice work, Venardhi. I do some 3D art, but I'm no good with meshes, at least not yet; what programs do you use?
Those were done in Silo, which I just picked up about a week ago when I decided it was time to start focusing on getting up to speed so I could hopefully work on getting a job doing this stuff someday soon. I'm pretty proficient with Lightwave, which I've used in the past for sub-d modeling for animation (spaceships and the like), but it isn't great for game art so I needed to move on to a new program. Silo is very limited in comparison to everything lightwave can do, but it does what it does very well.
Finished another just now: 'Nother monster.
EVERYTHING exports to .obj and it exports to a lot of other stuff, so you shouldn't have problems getting it into whatever you want to get it into.^^ That's my favorite so far.
Silo looks nice and is reasonably priced; I'll have to look at the details and see if it's compatible with Poser, which is what I use for organic figures.
