Hear your mofo President swear like a trooper

Ah, the link worked now.
That's pretty funny, makes Dayton3 look even more ignorant now that it's obvious he didn't even bother clicking the link and seeing what it's about.

My computer has certain lockouts that will not let it open such links.

Who installed the lock outs? And why did you comment if you didn't know what this was about?

Swearing and using vulgarity is a sign of ignorance.
No, it isnt.

Anyone who can't express their thoughts without resorting to profanity and/or vulgarity is showing their level of ignorance.

They are using "shock value" of words to compensate for the lack of logic and reasoning.
They are part of the palette of the language. I'd agree with you if we were talking about someone who could only express themselves by using swear words. That's like somebody who only wears black or only eats pizza. But to deny yourself the use of swear words is the same as denying yourself the use of a car's top gear. You'll still get where you want to go but it will be more difficult and not nearly as fun a drive.

I myself own neither print nor audio version of the book, so I wouldn't know how genuine this is.

I do "own" the audio book and listened to it a year or so ago; I think it's true that Obama speaks the audio book version himself (if it isn't him, it's an actor who sounds amazingly like Obama), but these quotes didn't stick in my mind. But I'm 99% sure it's genuine. :)

Swearing and using vulgarity is a sign of ignorance.

Tell that to the ghosts of George Carlin, Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor.

People who swear excessively because they have nothing else to say is the exception, but swearing and "vulgarity" in and of themselves are not signs of ignorance.

No, it isnt.
It has to be done right. Most sailors and Marines can whip them out and it really means something. When some dumbass teenager does it, then yes, it's ignorance.

As pointed out, our last President cursed as well, so this isn't news (actually, it's honestly not even worth more than a chuckle, since he's not actually cursing at anyone).

Dayton, did you even look at the link? You might want to find out context before you start complaining, or else you'll look ignorant. All your arguments are applying to George W. Bush, but not to Barack Obama. Obama was reading out loud from his book, in which he was repeating actual quotes from someone else.
Lyndon Johnson cursed like no tomorrow as did Nixon. And those two are just examples of recent history.

Let's no forget the writers on Deadwood. My wife and I watched an ep once, she looked as me and said "they use the word fuck more than i do".

The we have Christian Bale's little outburst 38 times in 4 minutes but he was getting a point across.

Gordon Ramsey probably goes to far but then chefs are reknown for their fiery tempraments.

And Battlestar Galactica is lucky the whole frakking lot isn't banned from the frakking airwaves cos they a bunch of motherfrakkers :)
(and not bad for a word that was used in the orginal series :)

Yep. As did most other Presidents because they were Human fucking beings. This is a non-issue (well, it's a non-issue either way, but it would be a non-issue even if Obama was using that language for other reasons than an audio book).
