Honestly, I think I'm more excited for this than anything else this year now.

Amazing how that shitty photo can turn my head about Red Dwarf, but 1m 30s of 1080p footage from Star Trek 11 just made me feel worse.
I'm still cautiously optimistic about Star Trek, although I have pretty much being avoiding finding anything out about it. But yeah, that Red Dwarf pic made me excited, and forget about being cautious about it.

Although I think hitting the reset button on Rimmer was one of the few things they did right in the series you can't remember. He was becoming much too nice by the end of VI and his appearances in VII.

I'm wondering if they are going to acknowledge Series 8 at all or just going straight into a new story. I don't mind either way I can't wait for this now

Lack of Chloe Annette has me wondering if they are going to pick up from the end of S6 where Rimmer blows up the time drive. It would be easy to split off into an alternate timeline from there and ignore VII and VIII.
It's more likely they just won't bother to explain it at all though
I never liked that Kochanski anyway, so i'll be glad to see her gone.

I also like this been just the boys again like the good old days. Kochanski was just added for the purpose of a possible movie.
I think Rimmer could be the retired Ace Rimmer since they left the alive Rimmer in another universe and Ace can travel between realities.
They could easily link it with 8 as by the end of that we don't know where the crew went and Rimmer was left for dead by the food dispenser.
