Holy sh*t!! Red Dwarf is back!!!!

I thought the first one was perfectly in character for Rimmer, I mean he had, in his eyes, just been rejected for "Captain Bog Bot" and then rejected again for the possibility to bring another hologram onboard, so I could believe that level of vindictiveness coming from him given the circumstances.
And running and hiding from danger is his default position, so in the case of Terrorform I find that very believable for him.
Out of character is the "better dead than smeg" moment from the end of series 6.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree that i'm wrong on the first one.

As far as blowing up the time drive goes, I saw that as the culmination of the character growth they had been giving him over the previous 6 series. Not out of the realm of possibility that when the crunch came he would come through for them.

Being smart enough to figure it out, now THAT was out of character

Well there was the time Rimmer ignored Lister when Lanstrom was trying to kill them all, as far as he knew they were in genuine danger of being killed and he's pretending he can't hear Lister.

Also when he refused to hand himself over to The Unspeakable One is Terrorform, despitre the fact that he would have died in any case.

Neither fit the bill perfectly, but I always thought the first one certainly was out of character. The second one is more attributable to his extreme cowardice, but the first one was unnecessarily vindictive and risky even for Rimmer.
How about in Future Echoes when Rimmer peaks around a corner grinning from ear to ear in anticipation of Lister getting blown up?

^ Oh yeah, that was a great episode too

It was S1 though and he was pretty much an unrepentant asshole for the first 2 seasons.

Here's some more new pics guys:

What else is pleasing is the fact that this was apparently a short shoot, and not part of the main shoot. So it's not going to be a major component of the show.

Still no news on whether we will have either Holly though.

you know what shocks me most about this RedDwarf/Corrie Dimensions in Time crossover, is that ITV are allowing it.

They probably own a big chunk of Dave.

What amazes me is that the Beeb released the copyright.

that is exactly my point.

BBC Worldwide & Virgin own Dave (& the other UK TV Channels), ITV is nothing to do with Dave (hence why there are lots of BBC shows on Dave)

ITV is nothing to do with Dave or Red Dwarf.

ITV are looking for ways to get BBC money aren't they?
so next 12 months time, we can look forward to some of the EastEnders characters going on daytip to wherever Corrie is set (Manchester ? ) and end up in the Rovers Return?

That or Charlie from Casualty shows up in SunHill, being the victim of a mugging?

no I dont think that is how ITV is going to get cash out of BBC.

You mean this topslicing the licence thing? Nah ITV want out of their PSB requirements more than anything really.
im not convinced that will happen.
OFCOM already dropped a load of them and are looking at dropping more, for both ITV and FIVE, so long as they keep national and international news, otherwise ITV have threatened to drop their PSB licence altogether, because paying for the licence isn't worth as much as they reckon they're losing on PSB programming. So I could see it happening.

the top slicing thing I dont see happening, not ITV dropping more PSB of there requirements.

That said im getting fed up with ITV, they need to either shut up moaning about PSB, or drop all the advantages it gives them, including the freeview space they were gifted im sure they can buy at back at market rate but forcing the ITV channels to be something like 50 - 54, see how much they like that.

Talking of five, despite previously making a show of not wanting to drop any PSB requirements, it seems they changing how it provides news, creating Five (Fox) & Friends.

^ I think the holoprogram does that by itself - remember Out of Time, when he got old & fat? :D

REALLY glad to hear this; it would have been too cheesy otherwise.

Anyway ITV must be getting paid to allow the RD crew film on the Corrie set; that's incentive enough to let them do it. I'm sure they also ensured the script didn't bring Corrie into serious disrepute (any more than it does all by itself).

More news... ish... according to Robert Llewelyn on Twitter, the live ep will be scrapped and replaced with a straight forward RD ep. So it'll be three new episodes, and the 'making of'.
