Escada moon sparcle, Edt.

Finally.. used up the last of my scent and it's not me without it..

I also bought a set of poker chips. My friends and I have been playing a bit of poker recently, but all the "chips" we have been using end up being edible (mostly it's left over Halloween candy) so we keep ending games with a lot less currency than we started with.

A strict monetarist policy in action.

I bought beer.

Then food.

Then more beer.

And then dessert from Patisserie Valerie.

(a very welcome recent addition to the city, might I add!)

Just got my box from Amazon today---GOD, I love Amazon!

I got hubby a Valentine's Day present:

satiny black boxers with little red hearts on them, and a copy of movie he's been quoting for the past two weeks--They Live.

I might also add some cinnamon candy to the gift as well. He adores anything with cinnamon.

I just bought a few dozen toy dinosaurs and 16 pounds of self-hardening clay. My students are studying dinosaurs and we're visiting the AMNH on Thursday (so much fun!), so I thought we'd make our own fossils! We'll impress our little dinosaurs, some feathers, and shells into the clay, and paint them when they dry. It'll be a great project for the little ones!

Can I be in your class ? It sounds so much more fun than when I was little. :D
It was great fun! The fossils have turned out beautifully -- we haven't painted them yet, though, so there's a whole new opportunity to make a mess. They're really understanding what fossils are -- and it's actually quite a hard concept or 5 and 6 year olds to grasp. We did a writing piece with it -- they wrote what happened to their dinosaurs, i.e. "First my dinosaur made footprints in the mud. Then he died and left his body in the mud. The mud turned to stone. It was buried by dust. A paleontologist dug it up" and so on. They were so thrilled about their fossils that they just churned out the writing (even my weakest writers wrote more than one sentence).

And that, friends, is how you get kindergarteners to develop gross motor skills, fine motor skills, vocabulary, sequencing skills, writing skills, and major concepts (fossilization, extinction, death, earth science), all in one lesson. Screw NCLB and the "basics," my way is better!

It certainly sounds like it. :techman:

Just last night got a new 3month air filter for the house at Target and while ther saw they had The Mask of Zorro on sale for $4.75 along with a host of other movies. For that price Zorro came home with me as well.

^ I saw "Sleepless in Seattle" (one of my all-time favorites) and "13 Going on 30" for the same price at our local Wal-mart. I bought them both immediately. Don't judge me!

I got 13 going on 30 to appease my then girlfriend of 2yrs of having too many guy movies in my collection. Go figure, right. Too many guy movies in a collection owned by a guy. But I got it in a 3 for $10 bin.
It was win-win cause Jennifer Garner is easy on the eyes.

I picked up my new suit! I've been waiting for it for ages and at the fitting there were a few details that needed altering, but today I went back to collect it and it's perfect! It's a three-piece small-scale black & white houndstooth. Very snazzy.

^I'm not sure if I've used this smiley before, but it seems appropriate:

I could just never get over the part where they rowed their little boat from Lake Union to Alki Point.
So I take it that's not a very feasible thing to do then? At least not in that boat.

Just a local's nitpicking. Their little houseboat was either on Lake Union or Lake Washington, either of which would be at least an unlikely and at most an impossible boat ride to Alki Point (in the Puget Sound). I used to live on Alki, and I miss the beach! NYC weather sucks balls right now. Seattle weather is infinately more clement.

Sounds cool.

Sounds cool.

Thanks. :D

I'll probably wear it at some point over the next day or two and will try take some snaps.

Now for something a little different - I bought a black homburg hat about six months ago, but never wore it until today. So I guess it counts a "new purchase" for this thread, worthy of a pic. This is what I wore to go out into the cold today...

... with some appropriate editing... ;)

Nice. Reminded me of the end scene from the newer Thomas Crown Affair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr2vA88rHj0

I would like to draw special attention to something that I have NOT bought this semester: any new textbooks. Or books at all for my classes. All of my courses this semester are continuations from last semester (or earlier) and we're using the same books from before coupled with material available online.

Given the usual gripes about book prices and what not, I felt like pointing this out.
