Terry Farrell is Mediocre.

Yeah, Terry Farrell isn't really my cup of tea. I was more of a Norman Foster fan, me. ;)

Back to DS9, however, I loved (the other) Terry Farrell as Jadzia Dax. She played it cool, had a lot of fun lines (especially opposite such foils as Kira, Worf, and Sisko), and of course was All Woman™. :bolian: Only trouble is that she featured prominently in quite a few poor episodes. ("Let He Who Is Without Sin" for example...)

I wonder if she was supposed to be calm-ish and mellow as a contrast, consciously or not, because of Curzon's craziness...

I must say that Jadzia in Meridian was just... terrible.

I think a lot of the calmness was due to some of Dax's percious hosts, but the Curzon personality became somewhat... dominant in the later years.

Hmm... that could be it too, especially after she "came to terms" with him... and learned more about him when he "joined" with Odo...

I saw her as the cat on red dwarf USA yesterday and i had to wonder how they would jiggle the old scripts to have it that two blokes chatting was now a guy and a girl flirting.

I have heard that she did not renew her contract for the seventh season because she felt she was underpaid and did not get a raise.

Why she was denied a raise? The producers felt she was a bad actress.

She was not denied a raise, but saw the long-term prospects of joining a sitcom as so compelling that she asked to be in some sort of recurring status or some other arrangement for the seventh season that would allow her to become a cast member on Becker. When they couldn't make that work, she asked to be killed off instead. She has said at conventions she later regretted it and was very grateful for the opportunity to have played Dax. I don't particularly doubt her on this; show business is tough and a shot at main cast on a sitcom is a huge deal, and I imagine anyone else in the biz would probably have told her "screw some sci-fi show that's low rated and almost over anyway...this is a NETWORK SITCOM!"

For what it's worth, she seems really cool in person. Couldn't have been nicer to my late father.

No. I like Terry Farrell as Jadzia Dax. And while Nicole DeBoer had a tough job replacing the character as Ezri Dax (and did well in her own way), I much prefer Jadzia. She had some good lines, like her exchange with the Jem'Hadar in the ep To the Death. Especially when she tells him, in the heat of battle, that he'll "make Honored Elder yet!" -- RR

This thread reminds of something that happened to Wango Zhang, my third host he was..zzzzzzzzzzzzz sorry nodded off there for a minute... so he was...zzzzzzzzzzzz.

LOL, I <3 that...

And her earlier conversation with him- You'd think she'd have known a bit about Jem'Hadar not eating/sleeping at least to an extent from the Abandoned... I think she was just setting him up to find out if there were women...

Yep! She says, "No food. No sleep. No women. No wonder you're so angry -- 30 or 40 years of that and I'd be pretty angry too!" And I love it when she discovers the whole thing about Honored Elders being Jem'Hadar who've survived past 20 years. He asks how old she is, she says she "stopped counting at 300," and he replies, "You don't look it!" :guffaw:-- RR

^ Yes!!!!
And her asking- how old are you?
Vira'kara- I am eight. (Seriously??!!! LOL!)
Dax- I would have guessed at least 15...
She just threw it out there...
Its great cuz he went from that toothy smile to a look of complete puzzlement... LOL!

Maybe it's just my curiosity and fascination with the Trill species speaking here, but I never thought she was bad. If anything, her character was one of the least annoying to me. The only character that consistently rubbed me the wrong way and irritated me was Nog. Aaron Eisenberg is a really nice guy, but I HATED his character and the way he chose to play him. Terry may have been vanilla, but at least she was boring and not outright annoying.

I liked Terry Farrell and I would definitley tap that azz. Dax was fine with me, Ezri was hot too. However, Kira started to get on my f@@king nerves. All the prophet B.S. and her dikey personality started to wear thin after a while. In fact for me the only thing I found more annoying than her was Kai-Wyn (don't know if that is spelled right.) Kai-Wyn made me want to eat razorblades for breakfast. What a biotch!

One of the best things about Jadzia. She's totally at home with other species. She's one of the most Federation type people I've seen. You could nearly drop her on any planet and she'd fit right in.

Yeah, I have heard that version, too.

According to Richard Arnold it is false and the real issue was her salary.
But he has been wrong many times, so I don´t know;)

I think Richard Arnold is a douche bag. I've run into him many times at the conconventions and he definitely has a righteous air about him.

Thats true... I find it helpful, especially with more suspicious people like O'Brien and Worf.

Probably got it from Curzon in part maybe?

I liked them both...Both did good for what they were hired to do, IMO...

Rob

Agreed, but I have to say, I always liked it when Farrell was given the techno-babble stuff. Early on you could always tell when she had trouble with her lines. Whenever Dax had some scientific explanation, Dax (and Farrell) would slow down partway through and a small frown would cross her face.

I used to love to catch that. Made me feel like I was seeing a blooper that was left in intentionally.
