No, it doesn't, and that's why we all know that guy from Fox is lying through his teeth. Behold; it's all about ECONOMICS.

Ratings determine how much commercials cost. Commercials pay for the show. If the money from the commercials cannot pay for the show's cost, or if the profit margin isn't high enough, the show gets canceled.

Dollhouse is a scripted show, on top of that an SF show with elaborate sets and special effects.

That makes it a VERY EXPENSIVE show. A very expensive show, needs at least decent ratings to get a big enough profit margin the suits and the share holders they have to report can justify putting the show on the air.

Putting a VERY EXPENSIVE show in a time slot, where by definition it will have to be a major hit just to get decent ratings; is killing it on before hand. The people who will make the decision to axe this show, aren't going to care whether not is in a death slot.

All they care about is the bottom line. They look at the cost of the show, look at what they can ask for the commercials, do a little substraction, and if the number is negative or not big enough - they order their underlings to get them the axe they'l be using on it.

It could be argued that FOX dont think they'll get decent ratings and make enough money back from the show no matter what timeslot they put it in, so are putting it in more of a "graveyard" slot to free up better slots for shows they think will give higher ratings and more money.

Which is still "Economics" as you put it.

Which means it'll get canceled after a few episodes, unless it's a surprise hit and does make the necessary ratings even in the graveyard slot. Fat chance of that happening.
 
Doesn't this whole 'reprogram people with new memories' idea sound kind of Dark-City-ish to anyone else?

From everything I have read about the premise and the show, I truely doubt it would have ever been a hit, even if you put it on the best ratings slot available. Some things just arent meant for more than a niche.
 
If the show wants to be a success, it should try and slip some boobies past the censor. If Eliza has a nipple slip by "accident" well. the rerun will have 12 times the audience because men are pigs.

Not to mention, the FAA will slap a massive fine on there, and the slip won't be in any reruns.

Last night while watching American Idol and Hell's Kitchen, I saw 2 commercials for it. So it is getting pretty decent advertising and the commercials look really god. Can't wait for it!
 
You may want to reconsider posting that link. Clicking on any of the pictures shows ads for porn sites that feature full frontal nudity.
 
I've never seen Pron before, I gather it's about time.

The only reason i would agree with you 3d Master on the subject "Are men pigs" is because Pigs ain't that bad, and then there's quality performers like Arnold Ziffle and Babe and Miss Piggy who really represent the best about what the porcine proliteriate have to offer this world... Calling men Pigs, is really just insulting all Porkers great and small and that's not entirely fair is it? Poor Piggly wigglies.

Actually the celebrity which magnifies the honest accounting of Eliza's prettiness irks me no end. She's pretty but, the hype would have us emperors new clothes her, and her manner after the fact blatantly trying to extenuate what god gave her with musk, heaving and exercise just leaves me cold from the hard trying. My goodness all the titty jigglying running she did in Tru Calling hd me face palming from left to right and back again for most of the hour of each and every episode I adored of that show as soon as Jason Priestly turned up.

If men are pigs, then women are cockroaches and calling them that is an insult to all roaches. Because they're every bit as bad and worse than men.

Enjoying ogling a sexually attractive person doesn't make one dirty, an animal, or what not. It makes you a healthy human being.
 
Did I mention I'm straight male and godless? I do love to ogle, I just don't like being edicted who is the itgirl I must lavish unconditionally... Who likes to be told to do anything really like mowing the lawn or getting a warrant of fitness for your automobile by the Man, but now the Man is insisting on who I must erect over?

Elisa seems lovely, but between being brought on as the sexy slayer and and brought as the raunchy bad girl in the mindless bring it on or the wallpaper clothes horse in the New Guy, I'm wondering if I've seen her out of this working class super vixen character she seems to ooze since true lies when she had the jail bait thing going on.

Its not the girl, it's the sleazy social math spin doctors producing publicizing and marketing Elisa bending the will of nations to sell soap and four wheel drive SUVs... It would be so easy to give into my needs to appreciate this woman, but then I would lose, and the modern day Mad Men would win and I would be a monkey dancing to their organ.

Not to mention, seriously, if you refuse to look at any woman any company ever put on any screen that looks good; shouldn't you also never have watched Star Trek? And seeing as this is the TrekBBS...

I mean, what's the difference between one woman put on a screen because the networks want you to watch the commercials in between the show, and the next one?

"men are pigs" is a generic colloquialism and obvious hyperbola and the anthem of the cheated on dumped icecream toting sad about her lot in life sitcom broad, as often said and as pan-accurate as "All men are liars" or "All Children are dripping snot factories" or "All women are Angels.". If you're going to chose to fight a ridiculous battle with me ridiculously, you'd best purchase a raincoat which is totally sarky resistant.
