Too little, too late, as far as I'm concerned...Marvel needs a full universe reboot after getting a new EIC (someone like Tom DeFalco, who knows how to write/edit MARVEL comics, preferably)...

You know, Marvel has held out doing a Crisis-like reboot for the longest time. The Ultimate line, to me, seemed a half ass compromise. I think its time for them to pull the trigger and start over again.

Problem with a reboot is it'll always be perceived as a rehash of what's come before. If they don't want a rehash, they'll have to change the character storylines a lot. But if they do that, many fans'll be turned off. It's kind of a no-win scenario.

It'll only work if they reboot the Editorial staff before they reboot the universe...

    Word. :techman:

They really don't need a reboot. Just do a reveal that everything from Avengers : Disassembled onwards has been a massive simulation that Uatu the Watcher has been viewing like a big ol' "What If...?" story. Just have him turn off his viewer, say "Whew! It's a good thing none of those events actually happened!" and reset the numbering of all the books back to that point in time. No Disassembled, no House of M, no Civil War, no Secret Invasion. Sure, we lose some good stories from continuity from the last couple of years (like Planet Hulk for instance), but that is a small price to pay to wipe away the drivel that Bendis and Millar and Quesada have unleashed on us. It would definitely be an easy way to wipe away Spider-Man's deal with the devil along with all the dumbass moves Stark has done since then.

I'll even give them the out that makes USE of continuity. Wanda's "going amok" was the result of her once again being possessed by Cthon, the demon who used her once before.

Cthon's goal was to do just what's been done, wreak havok on the mortal plane (and payback all those pesky costumed do-gooders who keep thwarting evil). By doing so, he's sent his personal power off the charts.

Have one of the Higher Powers, or even Mephisto, twig onto the plan, and set out to Beckett the situation by sending current Wanda back to stop herself from destroying the Avengers in the first place.

One blue/white flash of crawling quantum energy, and wacko/possessed Wanda is replaced by sane/NOT possessed Wanda. The 616 universe goes about it's daily business, entirely unaware of just how close they came to disaster once again.

This is essentially how I felt about CW but I am apparently the only human on earth that feels this way. *hides*

You're HIRED! Show up at Marvel first thing Monday and fix this ridiculous fubar universe.

I've actually been thinking of starting a thread on this issue. All three Avengers books were essentially new "#1" issues this month. But only Mighty actually "feels" like the Avengers of old, for the first time since "Disassembled".

    Short version...

As a bunch of wierd mystical shit engulfs the globe, the Scarlet Witch assembles a team of Avengers to fight it. Turns out Modred is once again trying to raise Chthon, this time using Pietro as the host. Since Wanda seems a lot more herself than she has in years, it's possible that Chthon was indeed behind Wanda's breakdown.

The story is obviously set up as a sequel to the classic Avengers tale from issues 185-187, so much so that I dug through my boxes of comics and found 185-187 to re-read them.

Wow. So maybe they're going to fix things? :p Why do I doubt it?

I agree they really need a reboot of some kind, after getting new editors. darkwing_duck1, I think your suggestion was perfect. I just don't think they'll do it.
