The New Enterprise in 3D! ... NOW FINISHED (threads merged)

Absolutely you can render animation in blender. That's how Bill rendered the weapons bay sequences for Mitchell's ship in Of Gods and Men.

The trick is to separate the render into lighting layers for a proper composite. The more layers the better. Key light layer, backlight layer, layer for windows, etc...

The more layers are available to a compositor like myself, the more finite control we have to make a more photo realistic appearance. In STOGAM, we had to limit the numbers of layers we had for time, but I think we db with the time we had.

I would say you have Blender down to an art. :)

One thing I've forgotten to ask in so many other threads...
can you render animation in Blender?
I think it would be awsome to see even 5 or 10 second animated
shots of your models in action.
I certainly can. Maybe I'll work on that. :)

Something I was messing with...

I figured the Klingons could have some JJ treatment as well. :) Plus, the Enterprise needs something to shoot at.

The Engine Nacelles are going to be underslung at the end of the wings, so that they are partially covered, not mounted on the end like the original version.

I'd call this 15% done.

YAY! *excited fast clap*

Maybe you could base your Bird of Prey (if you make one) after my design.
OK. I don't remember yours, do you have a pic?

Did all I am going to tonight....

There's going to be alot more bulked up near the top of the back, and of course the bridge and stuff. And then lots of greeblies. :)

I love the new Klingon ship, though I agree that red or orange engine glow would be more "klingony".

I think that your Klingon ship needs red coils instead of green, maybe an red-orange, like ENT.
Also, here's my (still kinda work in progress) JJ ships, the Klingon BoP is on the bottom right. http://fc94.deviantart.com/fs40/f/2009/013/5/8/JJverse_Ships_1_by_JohnnyMuffintop.png

I think I'll make a clay version so better references can be made.http://fc94.deviantart.com/fs40/f/2009/013/5/8/JJverse_Ships_1_by_JohnnyMuffintop.png
OK, I remember now.

That does fit with the overall style.

OK, I can't leave this thing alone. :)

I fixed the Shuttle Bay, to match what the toy looks like a little better, and I also went ahead and fixed the little square part on the back of the engine covers.

The big change, is that I inset the impulse engines. I saw this done over at scifi-meshes, by Tobias Richter over there. I thought it was a good idea...

Maybe one day I will quit messing with it after I call it done. :)

Marvelous, freaking marvelous.

And I've never seen such great work on Blender before.

I'd love to see what you could do with something like Maya.

Really? I still think of myself as a n00b :) .

On the Blender Forums, there is some really amazing stuff going on...
