I'm in agreement with Samuel T and I guess Salvor now.

The point is the production team who designed and approved these is not the same thing as a Starfleet R&D team field testing it.

Yes, I know there's NO such thing as Starfleet or phasers but isn't that the whole point? Shouldn't we BELIEVE there is? And therefore can't we try to THINK like they might? Using our imagination? Isn't that the purpose of all of this anyway?

Sure, but you're missing STC's entire point, which is that simply imagining that whatever design we see, no matter how ridiculous, was tested and approved by Starfleet engineers could be used to justify anything and everything.
