Movie toy images galore at WizardUniverse.com

I defended the old Playmates figures a few days ago.

I apologise. It was wrong and foolish of me.

These are awful. Playmates need to buy some Doctor Who action figures to learn subtlety. They've managed to do Peter Davison's cricket jumper with incrediby fine detail.

And, please tell me that the tricorder doesn't actually have the word 'Tricorder' printed on it??!!

Please tell me the communicator doesn't have a freakin' Starfleet symbol on it.

If they really are based on the real props....

Then the props might look like better TOYS than these are!

Narada looks like garbage. I have an open mind and everything, but it's a messy lump of a design and doesn't really look like a Trek ship at all.

So.... right now we're all wondering why the bridge is pink, right? :alienblush:

On the Enterprise toy, it appears that there is the movie era inspired striping on the secondary hull, as well as the windows for the Rec Room in the saucer.

Also, it appears that there is going to be two versions of the Communicator.
Communicator 1
Communicator 2

What is with the bizarre black line in the middle of the Narada?
At first I thought it was an awesome homage to 2001:ASO, but looking at the thumbnail view, there's some text blacked out? Do you see what I mean?

Yikes. These toys certainly make me want to stick with Star Wars Lego :(. Maybe they will look better on the shelves. Of course... the sticker price will be the make or break point.

EDIT: The phaser looks terrific! I could see springing for one of those...

Well, not really.

After all these are toys we are seeing here.
They are kind of interesting because they show us a bit more about what the movie designs will look like but you can't really count on them to be too accurate and can't really depend on them to make any absolute conclusions.

Personally I don't get too worked up over them.
I would like to buy that little Enterprise though

The toys are probably not crafted in such a way as to show all of its depth and detail. I still looks cool to me in the trailer.

Wow these are horrible. Absolutely horrible. Thats one line of toys to mark off of my list to buy. Well at least that will save me a little money. Thanks Playmates!

The USA Today article said that the size of the Ent model was 14.5 in. I wonder if Playmates made them in scale with the AA/DST TOS line of ships. That would be great. Supposedly Playmates was inspired to increase the quality of their toys following the success of the AA/DST figures and moderate success of the ships. If you can believe what you read at trade sites. Either way that image of the ship looks much better than any previous Playmates ST ship. I'm getting a couple.

On a side note I agree with everyone else I feel much better about the new Enterprise now.

As to the seemingly different versions of the toys seen online, they could be some images of early prototypes that did not make it to production.

This stuff all looks great, as toys go. If the Enterprise looks anything like the toy, then it's going to be wonderful onscreen - but I've expected that since the trailer was released (see avatar). :)

My eyes aren't just going crazy, but that is a lot of pink on the bridge right?

Typical, a star ship designed by the decendant of Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen.
