Boyfriends birthday - I'm not invited!

give him a pint and some love when he gets back, sounds like he just wants to go about it as a normal friday

He'd go back to his house... Yeah I'm starting to think, 4 years and still seperate houses... Can't stand the cold war, going to ring him and do lunch.
Good plan:techman: or bad plan? Either way can't cope with not knowing....

You know, some relationships just aren't the same as others. I know several people who have been in relationships for many years where the couples still lived apart and only saw each other a couple times a week, and they were perfectly happy.

A couple of these people eventually moved in together, and they became miserable as a result. You have to judge your relationship on its own merits and ignore what "normal people" do.

A friend of my mum's has been with her boyfriend for 30 years and they've never lived together. They spend nearly all their time together but sometimes one might not want the other one around, it happens, so they go back to their own place, get over whatever was going on and the problem is solved.

This teaches me, at least, that relationships don't have to follow a set process.

^Hell, my grandma and grandpa lived apart for the majority of their marriage! They didn't move back in together until they were in their 60s!

I'd be really offended if my wife ditched me on her birthday like that.

I never bought this whole boys night and girls night crap.

^Maybe you just never had a group of boys to warrant a boy's night?

I have lots of male and female friends, and there are definitely times we don't want the girls around.

Ok, all advice taken and heeded. Thank you. We did the most simple thing and talked. I apologised for organising a birthday surprise and he apologised for not appreciating what it meant to me. We're now going out for a curry (I hate curry but like bombay potatos and naan bread and wine) then to the pub on his birthday - together:)
And talk of buying my flat, renting it out and moving into his house.
Moral of this story - talk is good:) Oh god and compromise is good too!! I admit:(
Also sulking for 2 days does not get you a new handbag, but I'd rather still have a lovely boyfriend than a brand new black leather handbag, sac design, really huge.. Ok then maybe a couple of more days sulking:)
Thanks guys:)

I have a friend in Roslindale who's married to a guy in Maryland. I don't get it, but it works for them. :rommie:
