The story
OKLAHOMA CITY - Police in the Oklahoma City area say a con man is trying to scam metro area churches by claiming his father has died.
Authorities say Alan Farha II usually goes to Greek Orthodox and Catholic churches asking for money.
Ralph Fredrickson of Edmond says a man approached him at St. Monica's Catholic church asking for money to get to Chicago because his father died. Fredrickson gave the man $75 and paid for a motel room. But police say the man then got the money back for the motel room and left. But Father Ed Weisenberger of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help says when he was approached for money he told the man he knew who he was and would call police. Weisenberger says the man then ran away.
