Pizza Hut's "The Natural" Pizza - Crap

On a nutty whim the other night I ordered a "The Natural" pizza from Pizza Hut to give it a whirl. Of all the pizza places that will deliver to me Pizza Hut I like the best although there's far better places to go that do not deliver if I'm feeling ambitious.

In the commercials for this new line of pizzas it comes in a pretty red, bright, box and the pizza is rich, delicious thick and full looking.

What was delivered to me as was a dull looking standard cardboard-colored box with some of the red ornamentation on it and the pizza inside?

A cheese cracker.

Thin, shitty crust. I've had better pizza in airport concourses at 11PM from "Sbbaro."

The toppings, overall, don't taste any different than their regular pizza lines, but the crust is nothing fantastic. Any pizza fan knows that the crust is the heart and soul of a pizza.

And it's saying a LOT when Pizza Hut's normally "serviceable" crust is the better option.

Stay away from it. Go with their standard line of pizzas instead.

Unless I somehow missed an option for a thick-crust "natural" when I ordered on their website, which checking right now it doesn't seem that I did.

Oh well, the Wing Street crispy wings were pretty good.

I haven't ordered from Pizza Hut in YEARS. I always get pizza from the local pizzeria around the corner from my apartment.

I haven't liked Pizza Hut for about 6 years now. The best Pizza in my area is Rosatti's, it's become kind of a ritual on Friday nights here. :D

Really? I tend to expect good (not great) things from Pizza Hut. I'm a Donatos person myself, and also an old Little Caesar's Pizza fan. We have a new Little Caesar's but it's not the same. The pizzas are instant and "ready in less than 5 minutes guaranteed!" They even have a drive through.

We have a LaRosa's, Donatos, Cassanos and Dominos that delivers.

LaRosa's pizza is okay, but too bland and sweet really, and the crust is chalky. Donatos does much better though and we usually get that.

Donatos is really good pizza. Plenty of toppings, the crust is good, and the variety is excellent. No real complaints.

Cassano's Pizza used to be top dog for me. They had the most delicious crust, salted and golden brown, and the supreme pizza melted in your mouth. Unfortunately, they're now a bland, soggy, chalky, half warmed version of their old selves. Yet the price is higher. They're almost as bad as Dominos now.

Dominos is god awful. I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy. I could be starving and pass it up. The dough tastes like cardboard, the sauce irritates the roof of my mouth, the toppings are scarce, greasy and taste like they've been in a refrigerator for a month, and the cheese is rubbery and greasy. Horrible, horrible pizza.

I wish Pizza Hut delivered. They have one store and it's on top of a hill, with only one way in and near a busy intersection. Very unaccessible if you don't know how to slalom.

The last time I got Domino's it tasted like I can only imagine "replicated" pizza tastes like. The crust was bland and the cheese seemed more like plastic than cheese.

I can't believe that Pizza Hut is making a big deal out of "natural" pizza. Doing this only makes their customer's wonder what the hell they were putting in their mouths before their Natural pizza was created.

I only get Pizza Hut if I want Pan Pizza. If I want really good pizza I go to Bridges, or any local pizzeria.

The Natural doesn't sound good to me.

^^

I usually get Papa John's. They're not too bad. Some of the best pizza I've had has been in the little specialty shops, the ones who make genuine gourmet pizza.

man i had to order extra sauce last time I went to the hut because the idiots there only put on a small smidge, i'm gonna try the little caesars next door next time (sigh) if only they had sopapillas

"Real" Pizza isn't supposed to have a lot of sauce on it. Makes the crust soggy.

At PH I normally go for deep-dish/"pan" pizza myself.

Do pizza places often have sopapillas? I've only seen them at Mexican restaurants.

Can't say I've ever seen a pizza place with sopapillas which, yes, are a Mexican-style dessert not an Italian one which may explain why he's disapointed Little Caesar's doesn't have them.

;)

Pizza Hut emailed me a $5 coupon to try this new pizza, so I went to their website to order one. Put it in the cart, went to check out and the total (even with extra toppings I put on) was $14 and the coupon is only good for orders $15 or higher. As if I'm going to buy an order of breadsticks to try their new pizza, which is a big circle of bread itself. What a load of crap.

I went over to Papa John's website, where I got a far superior pizza for less money, and a free dessert.

no, i was lamenting on the lack of New Mexican Sopapillas (which are vastly different from the crappy cinnamon crackers the rest of you eat) which are like crack man, i'm addicted to them, just THINKING about food makes me think about them, and you can't get them without going to a crappy mexican food place

Oh I know, I've really good, really, genuine sopapillas plenty of times and as you say they're better than "cinnamon crackers."

Still, I wouldn't expect to see MEXICAN food items in places that sell ITALIAN food.

;)

yeah, well, this is New Mexico, were supposed to be a little...different.

Ever since a small pizzeria opened next to my work, I haven't been to Pizza Hut. I was thinking of trying The Natural, just to see what it was like. Think I'm gonna pass and stick to the local store. They make some of the best pizza I have, so it works out.
