Even mass marketed and marketed to the masses, I smell peg warmers. The Scotty figure will be especially ironic.
I don't buy the 'mass market' reason why this should look so poor. If you put the same time and quality into these that AA/DST does, and sell them at Wal-Mart at $12-15, that they would not sell well? I'm not a toy market expert, but it seems to me that the kids are going to buy the 3 3/4" figures and the collectors are going to buy the 6", if they have the look of the actors. In my area, the smaller Dark Knight figures seem to set all summer, but the larger more movie accurate based figures flew off the shelf. Hell, I never even saw the Joker in that size.
That's a start, but they should have made that deal before the papers were signed well over a year ago.FYI: Diamond Select Toys and Toys R'Us have made a deal to sell DST product in their stores, so you should be able to find AA's Trek stuff at TRUs soon. I forget the date for this.

I'm not sure where you got that anyone said anything like what you are implying. I certainly never said that "less than stellar figures will sell more." I was discussing company vs. company in regards to the "AA/DST should have got the license." Of course, nothing precludes them from having anything to do in the future either.

if the way they handled Nemesis was any indication, you'd only have four characters on the pegs.
Is there anyone out there who is fooled by this? Anyone who doesn't recognize that this is a flame, but one implemented with Dennis' patented "how to game the BBS rules" style?Addendum: Misspelling "cool" as "kewl/kewlness" etc. as a means of being dismissive passed its sell-by date years ago. It just looks a little tragic and out of touch now.

FYI... "kewlness" (the term used ONLY by me here, and thus making it entirely clear that Dennis' snide little comment was directed at me... and it was a flame, nothing more or less) is a term used to denigrate the attitude that many of us see being implemented in this film.
So, uh, Sorry. Yeah, that Kirk figure sure does suck.
"Mass market" is no excuse for sculpting every delta into the shirt.
It may or may not be a flame, but as a general statement, you'll get no argument here; I can't stand net slang. I'm not a big fan of purposely misspelling words when it so often happens naturally all by itself. In fact, whenever I see "teh", I just stop reading right then and there.

Next time, Dennis, don't pretend to be subtle. You're not fooling anybody... and the handful of "moderators" who seem to let you get away with anything you do may eventually have to start pretending to apply the rules to you, too.
FYI... "kewlness" (the term used ONLY by me here, and thus making it entirely clear that Dennis' snide little comment was directed at me... and it was a flame, nothing more or less) is a term used to denigrate the attitude that many of us see being implemented in this film. The attitude that "change is good just for the fact that it's change." The term communicates the idea very clearly, thank you very much, Dennis. You, personally, may not LIKE it, but honestly, your opinion on the topic is really critically important to only one person... yourself.
I'll use whatever language I like, in other words, Dennis, and if you want to use one of your "standard operating procedure" underhanded flames in an effort to justify your own position... you're welcome to, but I'd hope that the moderators would actually enforce the rules against personal attacks equitably.
It's a pretty damned simple explanation.Just for fun, I ran a search on "kewlness" and 20 most recent posters to use that word in their posts have been you, Dennis, you again, Aragorn, Dorian Thompson, nx1701g, DS9Sega, Irishman, Tom Servo, Kpnuts, Scout101, Praetor, Valeris, FalTorPan, Ronald Held, you again, ancient, Franklin, RAMA, Brutal Strudel, RookieBatman, you and UnknownSample. How this is "ONLY" you needs some explaining.

The first time you see it used is when I use it.
The second time you see it used is when Dennis makes his (typical) snide comment.Addendum: Misspelling "cool" as "kewl/kewlness" etc. as a means of being dismissive passed its sell-by date years ago. It just looks a little tragic and out of touch now.
Thus, there is ZERO question that this comment is directed at me. In his standard, "game the rules" style...
His post is just a "cute" way of saying "Cary, you are tragic and out of touch."
You know it as well as I do.
Now, I don't really care about getting called named by Dennis. But I find it REPREHENSIBLE that his "game the system" approach always gets a pass by the folks like PKTrekGirl and M'Sharak... who are both quite willing to smack down other folks without hesitation.
