Poll: Which Trek series has the most technobabble?

I am not Spock

I'm watching TNG 'Schisms' right now, and the script (by Braga, BTW) is loaded chock full of technobabble. VOY has a load of it, too, IIRC.

Don't remember much techno-jargon in TOS or DS9. What do you guys think?

Hopefully, Trek XI won't have much of it. Probably what turns the general public off Trek is all the pseudo scientific babble spouted by characters as a form of deus ex machina.

One thing ENT got right was reducing the amount of tech speak. However, i suppose 'Polarise the hull plating!' serves much the same dramatic purpose as 'Raise shields'.

I think objectively it's Voyager. This thread could be closed...it's like asking which Trek had the most Spock on it!

"B'Lanna, how are we going to [insert dilema]?"

"One minute, let me fine two to three random scientific terms and combine them, that should help us."

We are walking a fine line here, I for one don't mind to much Treknobabble, it may lose a few of the viewers, however, you can't dumb it down to much or it will lose some it's appeal. It would be like turning Voyager into a Capt Proton episode, with outdated dialog. Remember we are seeing the way things are in the 23/24th century, you need to speak in some technicial terms or it will lose it realism.

TNG could be bad for it, but VOY was light-years ahead...and not in a good way. It's one of the reasons I came to despise the show.

It's a complete and utter turnoff...a sign you've run out of genuine storylines, so you bullshit your way through an episode, using science fiction as a crutch.

DS9 could be bad early on but got much better. TOS was perfect.

Usually followed by the bit where another character comes up with a simile, for us laymen who don't understand transdimensional gyrodynamic flux. Usually spoken by Chakotay or Paris.

"Like a mess hall table. With only three legs. And no groove in the middle!"

"EXACTLY! All crew, prepare to self destruct!"

I think Voyager took the technobabble to an embarrassing new level. Especially in latter seasons, I find it gets in the way of a good story, cos I'm not really sure what they're doing except using a miracle cure that hasn't been used since and won't be used again. For shame.

I would have to go by Voyager as the leader in this myself.

TNG had it and to some degree DS9 as well but no where near in the ball park as VOY.

Tie between TNG and VOY; which almost had nothing but technobabble.

I agree with the OP. TOS and DS9 hardly had any.
