2009 DVD Schedule News

I'll def be buying The War Machines, I've developed a great admiration for Troughton, he's one of my favourite Doctors now.

It's very telling when you can ask most of the actors who have played The Doctor who was their favorite actor (other than themselves) to have had the role before them, and generally the most common answer is Patrick Troughton. He is thoroughly respected and admired through-and-through by his peers.

At least he lived long enough to see Doctor Who last. Poor Hartnell only got to see it go ten years (which, in hindsight, was quite the accomplishment really)...

In all the interviews I've seen with the various actors, he does seem to be the one the least full of himself. At least of the earlier actors.

I get the impression he would have been fun as hell to work with.

Apart from E-Space, a shaping up to be a great year. Nice of them to keep all this stuff back until the recession came in earnest. :)

Ha! Yes indeed. How the hell I'm going to afford all this, I dunno (I still haven't got the last two Tom Baker releases yet)...

And I'm glad the E-Space trilogy is coming out!

So am I right in thinking Amazon is the cheapest place to order these (at least here in the US)? I haven't checked everywhere, but I know Amazon is much cheaper than my local book and video stores ($15 versus $35 for a 2-disc!).

I've been ordering these like crazy, and want to make sure I'm getting the best deal out there (other than ebay or renting them at the library, of course).

In the US, go with www.dvdpricesearch.com ... it'll show you where it is the cheapest online.

Amazon's New & Used section is amazing. I don't think I've ever paid more than $20 for a Who dvd.

Hi. ;)

(Though that may stem from only seeing him in The Five Doctors, which thoroughly discouraged my shallow self from watching anything pre-McGann. :techman:)

Somebody git a rope.

And it appears we can add The Keys of Marinus to that list - it was confirmed today and an article is already up on the Restoration Team website :)

Troughton is always amazing and don't you forget it.

Who would possibly disagree?

Troughton was awesome! Hartnell was good, but Doctor Who owes a lot of its enduring success to Troughton. After Hartnell left and they recasted the main role, it was up to Troughton to keep people watching. I think a lesser actor would have had a more difficult time convincing people that he was still the same Doctor, just with a different face (and the whole cosmic hobo thing!).

Count me in as another Troughton fan, he's my favourite Doctor by far, which makes it doubly annoying how few episodes we have of him. Thank goodness the audios still survive...
