I would have thought that the EMH would have been programmed with aspects from thousands of real Doctors personality's (& some of the creators), rather than the 1000 personality's.

I thought by Zimmerman in DS9 that the EMH had his personality, with a database of MD's knowledge/papers/files.

If they had a thousand personalities it would be a waste of disc space considering the EMH wasn't supposed to be used as more than relief. Also if it were bits of personalities pasted together the EMH's could all end up being psychotic as the Doctor was in the ep I don't remember the name of but he went batshit crazy in.

But thinking too much of Treknology makes me love the other Doctors simplicity. "It goes ding when theres stuff."

its not too difficult, if you have a week off work or nothing else on the telly one day, 13 x 45 minute episodes + 1 x 60, that isnt even the full 14 hours. If we were talking a US length (22 episodes) I would be alot more impressed.

its not too difficult, if you have a week off work or nothing else on the telly one day, 13 x 45 minute episodes + 1 x 60, that isnt even the full 14 hours. If we were talking a US length (22 episodes) I would be alot more impressed.

I watched a full season of 24 in 1 day.
Not that impressive really, it's only 18 hours.

Well, I figured if my 14 yr old daughter could watch five entire football games in 24 hours (NY Giants DVD set from last season), I had to do something to top her.

I enjoyed every episode form series 2 on some level. But I am pretty settled on "The Girl in the Fireplace" as my favorite. There was something genuine about Sophia Myles performance that just plain drew me in. Surprisingly it wasn't her cleavage.

I've been trying to discern what I liked / didn't like about the performances of the 9th and 10th Doctors... and I can't really pin anything down. Each had a special sense, a nice spin. Each could be wonderfully manic and also fiercely strong, if a bit over the top at times. I got a kick out of Tennant's goofy looking suit and sneakers ensemble!

And I must say that the Doctor has the finest taste in women.

I have to ask... how does his S2 performance compare with his S3 performance? Any differences?

Heh ... I was about to say the same thing. The amount of emotion you see in his face then is powerfully moving. And I know how I've fawned over Billie Piper, but I honestly felt she did well. In "Doomsday" she came through nicely with her emotionally wracked performances.

I completely agree. He still goes a tad too much over the top for me at times, but those times are far less and there is less face pulling. He really grew into the role from S3 onwards...He get's a bit more opportunity to act also (especially in Human Nature/Family of Blood)

The over the top stuff looks so natural on Tennant that it's never really bothered me to be honest.

Eccleston, on the other hand, was great at the darker and more serious stuff, but the giddy, over the top moments (of which he had plenty) always looked kind of forced and unnatural on him I thought.

I don't know, "Nobody here but us chickens" and "Everybody lives!" worked well without seeming forced to me. I can't really think of any at the minute that didn't really work...

Oh I recognized Barty Sr immediately. His voice resonates rather distinctly.

Yeah, I have a rather unpopular opinion about the Cybs. I think the "new" Cybermen are shit. I *much* prefer the original series ... I think the Tomb of the Cybermen era had the best Cybs, but still enjoyed them right up through the McCoy era. The new Cybs are just ... stupid.
