A nice, long, cold shower.

Granted, for those of us in the northern hemisphere it's not common this time of year, but it's not all too common to at other times hear people mention wanting to take a nice, long, cold shower.

Usually this is said after a long day of hard, laborous, work in the heat or some other activity that makes you hot, sweaty, and sticky.

Does anyone actually do it? I find cold showers one of the most uncomfortable things in the world, right next to showers themselves in general.

There's been plenty of times I've labored in the heat and have been sweaty and yucky and I STILL take a warm shower because I think that's the best way to get cleaned.

A cold shower? No thanks.

So does anyone out there really take COLD showers?!

I could never take a cold shower no matter how much I'd mentally prep myself for it. Too much of a shock to my system as it is when I want to take a shower and step in before the hot water has kicked in.

I've actually heard it said mostly for someone who needs to "cool down" because they're too horny!

Last year, I found that I have a receeding hairline. One barber suggested that it might be because I was using hot water, which, apparently, is bad for the follicles. He added that turning the water to cold at the end of the shower might help. I tried this a few times, but hated it and felt I'd take my chances with hot water. I can't imagine taking a shower like that for the whole time I'm in there.

"cool" showers in the middle of the summer when you've just got through mowing the lawn are nice but ice cold showers aren't nice no matter what time of year it is.

I've only done it in the summer and only because we don't have AC in the house . . . even then I still had a small ratio of warm to cold so it wasn't totally freezing

I was a campground a few months back that had a few shower stalls. Nice, hot water came out of them too.

Until any shower on the womens' side was turned on for more than 2 seconds. At that point the shower immediately became ice cold. I gave up trying to shower then.

Cold showers are awful. I'm usually in the shower long enough for the hot water to run out so I would know.

When I was overseas recently I stayed at a place that had no hot water. Luckily the country was tropical and at the end of the day before going to bed a cold shower was the bomb. Though when I first woke up and had a shower it seemed a bit more bracing.

From time to time if I'm really hot I'll have a shower and start off hot/warm and then gradually down the heat until its quite cold and just enjoy that for a few minutes.

The only time I had a cold shower on a regular basis was during my "Summer of Love" [:guffaw: - everyone] when I was in Italy. Given the heat and the company I was with at the time, it was a necessity. :bolian:

A nice cold shower after a workout during a searing hot day is the best thing ever.
I completely disagree. If I'm going to subject myself to cold water, it better in a swimming pool where my body can actually adjust to the temperature.

During the cold months I take cool showers, during the warm months I
take hot showers. Helps my body stay adjusted to the seasonal temps.

I've taken a couple of cold showers at the gym recently. The weather has been so cold and the gym so miserly on its use of electricity that the showers have been freezing. The last one was so distressing I felt like crying. It made me so damn angry. I hate cold showers. The only time they are anything approaching bearable is on a stinking hot day and you are showering off by the swimming pool.

If it's very hot I do take cool showers, but not cold, as that can be a shock to the system and you can pull something. It happened to me once, and I haven't done ice cold since then.

I absolutely cannot stand cold showers. They're just unbearable for me. But I don't like searing hot showers, either. I'm like Baby Bear, the water has to be just right.

I could never take a cold weather even if it's blistering hot out.
