Your birthday cake

I haven't had a birthday cake in YEARS. I'd be happy with whatever I got.

Although....part of me REALLY wants this:

Do they come in cheese?

The last cake I had was on my 24th. I was doing a show a week before or after, I can't quite remember, and a group of superfans brought me a Doctor Who TARDIS cake.

The expiry date was the next day, so I ate half when I got home and the rest for breakfast.

Sadly my 25th was rather underwhelming - I got yum yums... and I bought them :(

My mom used to make me a blueberry pie for every b-day. :bolian:

She still does, if she can manage to "get around to it".

I haven't had a birthday cake in years. As I recall, I simply went for a Thai meal my last birthday (which is as good as a cake). :D

When I still lived at home with my mum, she used to buy me a delicious chocolate cake Marks and Sparks used to make. Although I wasn't a big fan of chocolate cakes, that one was special, and I used to scoff it down! This is because my mother has never learned to make cakes as far as I know, so it was simpler for her to get a shop bought one. Although she used to make delicious biscuits once in a blue moon when I was very young... More into putting out big savoury lunchs and dinners.

Happy birthday to your hubby, Blab. :techman:

What about you? What cake do you want the most for your birthday?
When I was a kid I called it mum's concrete cake, but these days I have sort of developed a taste for my mum's chocolate cake (heh: I was instrumental in making it the mother that should supply the cake for birthdays in our family  ) and usually ask for that when/if she actually asks what kind I'd like. Especially as it is a rather solid thing that tastes very chocolatey and where you only need a tiny bite to go with your coffee -it's more like a piece of confectionery really.

Congrats to your man, btw.

That almost sounds like my favorite.

My favorite is Red Velvet cake. Best way to describe it is that it's the richest chocolate cake there is and it's covered in buttermilk icing.

It just dawned on me that this year, I'll be having my 5th anniversary AND I'll be turning ( :scream: ) forty.

There better be cake involved, damn it.

Do they make cake out of Metamucil? :p

Been nice knowing you, bud....:p

+1

I can't actually remember when I last had a birthday cake.

I do remember that my mother used to make me an absolutely fab birthday cake when I was young. It was a moist chocolate cake, with chocolate ganache in the middle, and chocolate fudge icing on top.

Noooooooooooo, stop tempting me evil tempter person!

Eat as much cake as you want. Just go for a long brisk walk afterward.

You certainly didn't look overweight, last time I saw your pic. I can't see what you might be worried about? Men burn carbs like nobody's business anyway!

Chocolate cake with coconut... German chocolate cake, maybe? All I know is that I like it, but my family doesn't like it and 3 are glucose intollerant, so I can't really expect a cake from them anyways.

You guys are all making me jealous. My mom has never baked a cake in her life (or made any other baked goods, for that matter). I make the birthday cakes for pretty much anyone around here, including myself half the time.

My sister did throw me a fabulous party a few years back though, and ordered me a chocolate cake with creme brulee filling from http://www.bittersweetpastry.com/. It was amazing! By coincidence, they also did the cake when my husband and I got married in July.

... now I want to visit there for some more cake.

That sounds really tasty, mm creme brulee.

Then eat it. Do I have to send you a piece or something?

You know you want a delectable cream cheese red velvet cake. It's calling to you.
