Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has posted some news for those who are hoping for a ninth season of Smallville starring Tom Welling. PLEASE NO MORE! Clark Kent already has crows feet and that was 4 years ago! Well, at least Tom realizes his career's over after this.
This season's been such a massive improvement that I'm glad. It would suck to onlly be a "re-fan" for only one season then it's gone.
I agree. Season 8 has been surprisingly good. If they continue like this I welcome a 9th season and maybe more Anyone who doesn't like can always stop watching.
First, they don't do comics style costumes on this series. Look at Green Arrow, that's as close as you get. Add to the mix that too many people know Clark's face, and you will know just by common sense that the traditional costume will not work on this show. Think of it as an Elseworld if you must. But we could get closer to it than just the blue t-shirt and red jacket we have now. People will want to have an image in their head when they think of "the red/blue blur". And thanks to Ollie's impersonation (done to throw Jimmy off Clark's trail), people now think the blur has a billowing red cape or something similar. We also know from the past that Clark doesn't like masks, but he does like hats (from his Zorro costume in s5). So taking all of that into account, my idea of a "Smallville Superman" will take what we have now to start. First, get rid of the red jacket. Second, stock up on blue t-shirts that have the Superman "S"/ crest of the family "El" (homage to the Connor Kent Superboy) silk-screened onto them. Third, give him a long red trench coat. Something that can billow out as he runs for the cape like effect. Fourth, dark red wrap around sunglasses (similar to Green Arrow's green ones, homage to the Eradicator's first costume). And fifth, maybe a dark red fedora to match his coat. This way, if he keeps his head down the hat and glasses can conceal his identity. Just for the opposite identity than the one people are used to. And it gives him a "mystery man" kind of look, akin to the Spirit or the Phantom Stranger.
Not surprised. Then again the same thing was said on TVGuide's website about him being close to a deal in December.
This is his acting career, he has no career after this but he didn't have a career before this. And frankly he hardly acts now.
I agree as well. Smallville has actually gone back up to the top the list of shows I want to watch first. If they can keep this quality up I'll come back for more.
All I want is the final 30 seconds of the series to be him in the god damn tight and capes, standing atop the daily planet, before flying off to the triumphant theme. That's all I want. It's all 99% of fans want. If they don't do it after a decade of a show that was supposed to be a 4-year-only thing, I think we may just hunt the writers and actors down and eat them alive.
It's been a long time coming for this show to come to an end. The premise of the show has long expired and didn't seem built to last this long.
Tom Welling isn't a great actor by any means but most times he is only bad because his lines are bad. When he has a normal scene without any gobbleygook he's capable enough. But this has been a good season so far. I'm thinking that short of a brain-wipe causing everyone who knows Clark to not recognize him as Supes, that he will become Superman in an alternate universe. They've hinted at it when Oliver suggested he wear a cape and Clark answers, "in another life." Plus, there was that alternate universe episode where he wears the glasses and no one really knows him. But they have gone to the amnesia well many times before so who knows?
