Exactly, hence my post about the differences between 'seasons 1 to 6 Jack' and 'seasons 7 to 10 Jack'.
Please show me where you read that RDA saw Stargate as a comedy?
And yes I'll blame the writers and directors thanks, seeing as they're in charge on set. I find it very hard to believe that Jack suddenly decided to dumb himself down to ridiculous levels from season 7 onwards.

Answer: none of the above. None of them consider Stargate a comedy, that would be ridiculous, because it isn't. It's an action/adventure science fiction series set in the present day. It of course has comedic values and a few laughs every now and then, but it is NOT a comedy.
They were joking, taking the piss, having some fun as they ALWAYS do in interviews/specials. You really should learn not to take everything said or written so literally.

Did you see the special? If not you're coments aren't event worth replying, it's a fact they do consider the show popcorn entertainment and yes it's comedy to them and yes RDA did whatever he wanted to, accept it.

What facts? You said RDA considers it a comedy... then post a tongue-in-cheek jokey "shhh, don't tell anyone, but the series is really supposed to be a comedy wink wink" jokey comment from Cooper. RDA has nothing to do with it. The series isn't a comedy, full stop.

^ DWF did say that he goofed and that it was W/C who claimed it was a comedy and not RDA. DWF mentions this when he posted the comment from W/C. However, the rest of his points are valid.
In any event, I do admit that I did think that Jack got a little too far in some of the later seasons. It was probably a combo of both the writers and RDA. I can see him being goofy with SG-1, because by the time Jack was a general, they all were friends and could probably get away with that. He could, almost, probably do that with much of the base personnel.
With other matters, such as off-world guests and whatnot, he should be more serious, or at least serious enough to present himself as someone to be taken seriously. I think most of the time, they did this well, but there were some instances that were a little much (such as locking the two warring alien political leaders in a room until they resolved their differences - it was funny when watching it, but if you think about it, that probably wasn't the best idea...then again, it was very early in his general career).
I bet they (writers and RDA) turned Jack into the comic relief because of his reduced involvement in the show. The show started to focus on the other characters more, so when Jack was in an episode, he became the "token funny guy".
If Jack is the center of the new movie, then I hope they have him play it straight and pace out the humor evenly in the flick.

Whoever's responsible for Jack turning into 'ha ha, I'm so funny, this is all a joke' mode should be slapped. To me, it really broke the show. One reason I prefer the Ben Browder seasons a bit is because he has an ability to be funny but still act like the situations are real and serious. Kind of like how Jack used to be.

Exactly right, the show went severely downhill the minute Jack turned into a walking sarcastic joke. It wouldn't be so bad if his jokes actuall remained funny, but after 8-9 years of the exact same thing...
Because these are answers to a fan-submitted Q&A, and someone asked if Vala would be in the third one.
Well Vala is fun and all, but I kinda think that if they went foward with another SG1 story she doesn't HAVE to be part of it, simply because she was on the series. I just hope the next dvd is more... full than the last two. They felt too quick for me.
I wouldn't really expect them to; they have to keep them in the hour-and-a-half range, because part of the funding comes from selling them as two hour TV movies to Sky (and in Atlantis's case, Sci-Fi).
That's not true at all considering the movies are DVD movies and not TV movies. They could have made them as long as they wanted for the DVD, and then just edit a few parts out if they are ever shown on Sci-fi Channel.
You can have an epic 90 minute movie, Stargate just doesn't know how.
