New companion speculation! (Lily Allen?!?!!?)

I have the advantage in the US of not having to hear the music.:)
You should take everything they say with a grain of salt. The British usually have a strong and fierce bitterness towards their most successful sons and daughters, especially if said sons and daughters - God help us all - start getting famous abroad.

A common stereotype, but not one that stands up to scrutiny.
Yeah, I think it's more to do with disliking people who either spread stereotypes about Britain and are just fucking annoying.

I thought the problem is that she cheated.

Using Youtube to become famous is something anyone can do, but hardly anyone bother too all that well.

Is that why some people dislike her? What a petty and stupid reason. Besides, it was MySpace (so her record company claims).

I can only speak for myself, but I simply find her brand of unimaginative, vacuous song writing immensely irritating and I can't understand why it's made her popular, because it's shit. I've never seen her act though so if she is to become the new companion then so be it, I'll wait until she's on screen before I rant/rave about her.

Some cling to the notion that she's only famous because her dad is. I would counter that at least she's actually done something to warrant being famous, however pish. Unlike Peaches Fucking Geldof, who deserves much more derision than Lily.

I thought Lily became famous via MySpace? but that is not why I don't like her, I just don't like her

actually if im honest I always thought the thing about her becoming famous on MySpace was fake.
There are quite a few people who've managed to amass a following via the internet and then when they release their first single just seem to appear from nowhere for the general public. Arctic Monkey's for example, even though they didn't do it themselves, so it's entirely possible.

you are probaly right, but at the time, I thought it was just a marketing ploy (or her time on MySpace was part of the marketing) but I got bored and forgot to care after a while.

I'm torn between the two mighty suggestions of Dara O'Briain and Molly Sugden. Sod it. Let's have them both.

"Eh, is your woman not a bit on the old side for ye there?"

I can't remember who suggested it, but I'm f'ing loving the idea of Three Men in a Tardis. Dara, Rory and Griff moaning and cooking pigs on spits while Doc 11 saves the galaxy... marvelous.

"Make us a cup of tea wee man"

"Look, I'm 905 years old. Stop calling me 'wee man' or I'm stopping this Tardis RIGHT NOW. Here's your tea."

the only credit I'll give Lilly Allen is rhyming al-fresco with Tesco.

other than that, she's not talented and not attractive.

i'd sooner have Kelly Brook in the TARDIS.
