New companion speculation! (Lily Allen?!?!!?)

I've seen the ad on TV three times, but for the ost part I've only seen the Episode of South park where they take the piss out of it, but I'm lead to believe that twilight is basically High School Musical with fangs.

Odds are I'll love it, but until I do love it I get to resent the tiny beautiful people acting like they have problems.

Just looking at the cast and the knowing that the plot is romeo and juliet to a degree... it's probably just a redressed version of Roswell. Gods i miss Sheri Applebee.

you mean the episode "The Ungroundable" the little ive seen of it, makes me think its more about romantic vampires, than blood thirsty will cut your throat without giving it a second thought vampires.

I'd watch more romance movies, except there aren't enough wooden box time machines and killer salt shakers in them.

Love the Shatner thing, BTW.
go watch the TVM, that is about as romantic as Doctor Who will gets, he kisses her & everything

There's also Seasons One and Two of the current series....

And then there's the fact that every one of Moffat's Doctor stories ("Blink" is a Sally story, not a Doctor story) have in some way focused on the Doctor falling in love.... I'm hopeful that Series Five will be nice and romantic. :)

Yeah most of the stuff Moffat has done has had romantic overtones, even Jekyll basically revolves around love. I don't mind romance in Who, but I don't want it to overshadow everything else as it has on some occasions (IMO) and I want it to be a bit more mature than at time. Give me Doctor/Reinette, Elton/Ursula over season 2's Doctor/Rose.

As for companions. New name in the mix, how about 28 Week's Later's Imogen Poots??

There's only one man who can bring the right amount wit, satire and theoretical physics to the Tardis.

That man is Dara O'Briain.

I'll keep repeating it until it happens. Like the butterfly effect.

Sorry, I figured the picture would be more obvious, the young dude with a wild coif just reminded me of Twilight.
not read any of the books, did not know about them until the movie came out, and ive really not see alot of promotion for it.

I haven't seen it either but the US got quite the marketing push for the film which I thought wouldn't have been confined to these shores. I guess the books are quite popular among teens, the author often gets JK Rowling-esque responses from her appearances.

what with Frankie as head of the Daleks, and the annonying one falling into a black hole?

Russell Howard, annoying? Brgrhgrh! Take that back sir! He's like the comedy little brother I never had!

Frankie as Davros - inspired casting.

"We meet again Doctor... my pussy is so old, it's haunted."

I think Moffat will be able to find a proper balance between romance and other elements. Certainly most fans haven't accused him of the kinds of excesses that RTD often gets accused of.

you can have Russell if you want, I dont want him.

& yes it is to early to say what Moffat will be accused of, at least wait till the first episode has aired, or we know simple things like the Doctors outfit or his companion

I guess the difference is that when Moffat's done romance in Who it's been, by neccesity, limited to a single story and has worked better as a result. RTD was hamstrung by having to scatter that romance through a season. Personally I don't think it's conicidence that for me the sweetest romance RTD did in Who revolved around Elton and Ursula.

Be interesting to see how Moffat tracks a season long romance (assuming he has one) personally I'm waiting for the Moffat comedy episode!

That's not quite what I was getting at. I meant to imply a certain inevitability to the prospect of Moffat receiving the exact same fanboy bile RTD did. Is. Had. Something.

and I was suggesting that he would get fanboy criticism, I was just saying its to early to say what that will be.

Well he's already being criticised for his choice of Doctor, for being "too dark" and, in one instance I was privy to, "too Scottish".
