The books are far from being my cup of tea, but I think they have the potential to be a good Star Trek movie. Or two or three of them perhaps.
There are a number of things that would have to be taken out to trim the story down and keep the movies focused.
The Jean Luc/Beverly and Deanna/Will baby stories would probably have to be flushed.
Lots of the stuff with the Columbia and its crew probably wouldn't be usable on a movie screen.
And the entire origin of the Borg and Caeliar stuff would probably have to be eliminated.
And the battle sequences punched up. Especially the one at the end of the second book.
But otherwise I think it would be worth paying 20 dollars (see it twice) to see.
