parents; a sympathetic ear/shoulder?

How many naps a day does she take? If she's going down for a nap at noon, I'm assuming on the one. What time does she go to bed for the night? Maybe she just needs to have her schedule readjusted.

you guys are more concerned that I gave her sugar than the fact that I yelled at her?

tough room.

Because, unlike the yelling, which you clearly felt bad about and will likely try to avoid in the future (though there will be many times when you will fail to do so), you didn't seem to see anything wrong with rewarding the baby with a snack cake and chocolate milk. If that becomes a trend, she's going to start associating feeling bad with eating junk food, which can lead to all sorts of problems down the road.

one nap, about two hours

Food = comfort, I see what you mean.

As I've said before, this explains why God made children cute. In any rate, maybe now she'll become an author.

Seriously, if you're really concerned and have these child-rearing questions, talk to your daughter's pediatrician, and/or consult some good books on the subject.
I have 3 kids, (ages 10, 5, and 3) all with various challenges of their own. We've had a lot of good success with the "What to Expect..." series of parenting books.
Also, as for sleep issues, check out the book by Dr. Ferber. I forget the exact title. Something like "Solving You Child's Sleep Issues" That's not the exact title, but you should be able to find it in any book store or Amazon by the author's name.

After reading the assorted comments and judgements offered in this thread, I really wonder who has kids and who doesn't.

It seems to me that many people without children often have very judgemental ideas about what is right or wrong or should be done in raising children, while often those who have first hand experience know that iron-clad, inflexible rules just don't work too often in child rearing.

And I just realized how redundant I was with the word "often" in that post. Oh well, so it goes.
