Political Correctness is both an oxymoron and a from of Fascism. It should be condemned and consigned to the trash bin of history, just like every other form of Totalitarian Evil we've destroyed.
In fact, I make it a point to be as politically incorrect as possible. No jackass politician is going to tell me what I should think and feel.

I agree with Captain Hyperbole, here. In fact, I heard that Hitler's whole beef with the Jews stemmed from being wished "Happy Holidays" at a Berlin department store. True story.
I don't think anyone - or many people get offended with a "Merry Christmas" greeting. However, if a store chooses to have it's employees say "Happy Holidays", why should someone be offended?

It's more of the point that they aren't aloud to say it. And that was what this employee told me. They weren't aloud to use any religious or cultural greeting, only happy holidays. And personally I don't think that attitude is right.

Why? I'm confused by why this is such an important issue with people. It's a greeting - just like "Hello" instead of "Hi". I don't know about these days, but back in the day, my parents discouraged me from using any slang - 'hi' included. Many people still don't like the term 'hi'.
And, "Merry Christmas", whether you agree or not, is considered by many to be a 'religious' greeting. Probably not by non-religious people who celebrate Christmas as just a holiday, but by people of other religions who celebrate something that is not Christmas.
So, let's say you own a store and directly across the street is another store that sells the exact same thing. You've got 100 people to compete for business. Fifty of those people are either Christian, or not religious but celebrate Christmas as a non-religious holiday. The other 50 are some other religion (a variety of different religions) and celebrate something else.
It's only those 100 people and they have to buy either from you or the other guy.
Some of those 50 Christians and non-religious people shop at the other store.
Are you going to allow your employees to say whatever they want and possibly offend some of those people whom you depend on for income?
Or, are you going to tell your employees to keep it inclusive and acknowlege that not everyone celebrates Christmas?
but it does have a religious background, and thats the reason some people are concerned about saying it.
The thing I don't like about "Happy Holidays" is it is the PC, trying not to offend anyone, let's take religion out of our lives answer to the debate.
So it's okay to celebrate Christmas as long as you don't say what it is?
