The Happy Newyear thread

Happy new year everybody! Four hours ago for me. What better way to ring in the new year than geeking out.

Just over three hours to go with a forecast of Minus Five Centigrade (apparently with thick fog, but it's not too bad here yet)

Happy New Year everyone:)

OK, so this should be my last post of 2008 here. Time to get ready for work for the next few days, and have an earlyish night. Current weather forecast: -5 Celsius, dense freezing fog. Not exactly Club Tropicana. :bolian:

I hope everyone here had a great 2008, and I wish 2009 will be just as good, if not better, for everyone. :)

See you all on the other side!

It's already like -17C here...all you wussies cold at 0 or -1 or -5! :p

Definately staying in...but I always do!

Happy New Year all! :techman:

It's already 10.55 am here, but happy new year anyway. Had a relatively quiet night for a change, had a few drinks with the gf and sat on the beach watching fireworks. Almost too cold to do it in a t-shirt and shorts like I did, but not quite :techman:

It may get up to 0 F today!

Not a night for going out, imo. I think I'll stay home and do some online shopping. :)

I might join you!

happy new year to you all.
thought i'd do it now i'll probaly be too drunk to do so later;)

Funnily enough, this is the one night in the past week or so that I'm NOT drinking. Well, I had a glass of sherry earlier, but that's it.

It's already like -17C here...all you wussies cold at 0 or -1 or -5! :p

I'm not a wuss. Just delicate. Like a fine chiffon.

Happy New Year, everybody. :bolian: I hope 2009 is the best year of your lives-- so far.

We have a nice big blizzard here that's keeping me home. For the first time in many years, no Chinese food with my niece and nephew at my mother's house. And no Three Stooges Marathon, either. Well, at least there's Twilight Zone....

It's 71° here. I just got back from a barbecue at the beach.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope it's better than 2008.

Nothing quite that extreme here as the last couple of hours of 2008 draw to a close - just fog and temps in the low 30s (i.e. not a good night to get sloshed and fall asleep in a gutter somewhere, as you'll likely not wake up.....). I'll be catching the chimes of Big Ben to start the year and making full use of the extra second the scientists are adding to the end of 2008 ;) Then I'll be calling it a night. So a Happy New Year to one and all and I hope everything goes well in 2009!

Or an English Rose ;)

If only I had that sort of complexion.

Well, I've lived in the icy north all my life and I still hate the cold winter!

See, I knew you were smart.

I couldn't cope with really cold winters. Or persistent snow. If nothing else, I'd have to wear those ugly plastic galosh overshoe things! :D

Isn't it midnight there 'bout now? Happy New Year!

An hour still to go (we're on GMT for the winter months). I'll store your good wishes safely away until then. ;)

So there's only 5 hours difference from EST now? It seems to me when I went over in December (in '92) that it was 6 hours difference? (the jet lag made it seem more!)

That was a nice year! -Cheers all!

On with the new one: have a happy one every one of you!
