Fried Chicken?

Great for me!
Not so good for the chicken.
(But I couldnt care less really)

Here in Britain if you go to KFC you cannot choose specific pieces of chicken.
So if you want 5 pieces of original recipie you get what they give you.
I love Drumsticks and would love to be able to just buy a bucket full.

However I have heard that this may not be so in outher countries?
(Possibly Australia)
Does anyone know if this is true?

(This refers to original recipie as you can buy "hot wings" and such in any quantity)

SHORT VERSION:

If they made a four-breasted, six-legged chicken, the world would be a happier place.

LONG VERSION:

The problem with letting people choose what they want is that the place will end up running out of legs, then breasts, and only have thighs and wings left. In my time spent working in the kitchen department at a certain grocery store, I've discovered that people get quite irate when I'm forced to tell them that they can't substitute breasts for the wings in their 8 piece chicken pack (it's 2 of each of the 4 pieces damnit, not 8 breasts!!!). The breast is the largest and most expensive piece of meat, so there's no way we're going to give that to you instead of a wing. I actually had a lady throw a fit and have to be calmed down by the person that she was in the store with when she found out that it'd cost her more money to get extra breasts in the chicken pack. It's not that we don't let people choose what they want, it's that we charge them more for it because we get stuck with nothing but thighs and wings left in the freezer, and because less people go crazy over them, we have to have a super duper sale and pretty much lose money on them just to get rid of them.

P.S. Yes, I like fried chicken on occasion - like every few months... working around it makes me not very hungry for it very often.

All you people harking on and on about KFC and whatnot, you really are missing out on the face-melting goodness of homemade. You see, most chains have to appeal to a broad palette and tend to make their recipes to that end (that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad, but you know....). But when you really know how to do it yourself (and you have the benefit of a mouth-watering family recipe), you can tailor it to fit your taste perfectly.

And perfect it is. Forget cake, this is what the angels eat.

soooo... where's this heavenly, mouth-watering family recipe of yours? care to share? ;)

I'd sooner share my social security number. :techman:

Truth be told, it's nothing earth shattering. Plus, I'm not one of those people who can spout off detailed recipe instructions off the top of my head. I'm more the type that gets into the flow of it as I'm making it.

If that sounds like a total copout, it is, but you're still not getting the recipe. :p

I don't understand that. The thigh is one of the best pieces of the chicken. Oh well, people are weird.

I voted for the last choice, but my reasons for not eating fried chicken are moral rather than health-related.
