New Years Resolution Thread!

Hmm, now I better participate.

1. Join a choir and start singing again.
2. Find a church and go to it on Sunday mornings.
3. Work on a fun, creative project-- like a comic strip or video game.
4. Practice my guitar regularly
5. Find a way to save money on my salary by cutting back on non-essentials.
6. Get into a new gym (had to cancel my old one when they jacked up prices during a RECESSION.

My New Years' resolution is to not make any New Years' resolutions because I never keep them.

FAIL! :p

I don't have any new years resolutions, though I do have goals I've recently set for myself and plan to achieve in the next year.

Get a job.
Get a job on a ship.
Go sailing.
Go sailing on a tall ship.
Write at least one transport canada exam towards my mate's ticket.
Kiss at least one beautiful woman, though with the way I'm moving around right now I'm not sure if I want to date anyone at the moment.
Get my dive ticket.

It's a cliche but...lose weight. It's the one area in my life in which I'm very dissatisfied right now. If I can just get back to where I was my senior year (size 12 or 14) and able to shop in regular clothing stores again instead of only specialty stores like Lane Bryant, I'll consider it a success.

^ or get 'em all done by joining the Navy. :)

Eh, not enough freedom in the Navy. There are things I want to do that being shackled to the service wouldn't allow. Plus, I'm on the officer track, and if I joined the Navy that'd mean a cadet programme, and officers that go through cadet programmes are usually wankers. :p

Not to denigrate those in the navy of course, it's just not for me as a career. If we were ever at war again though I'd join, unless I was in a better position to help in the merchant marine, or as a pilot or something like that.

Go to the Gym :)
Actually start dating :)
Oh, and excel in school (or else) :)

1. Retire
2. Lose weight
3. Stop smoking
4. Get into church
5. Get in a relationship that I enjoy
6. Start buying a home
7. Stop making resolutions

I want to drop 100 pounds.

So, I'm going to resolve to not take second helpings, drink less alcohol, exercise more.

Yep. I'm fucked.

Write more! Draw more!

Ya know...I think I'm going to add those two to my list, too. Work on one of my WIPs and work on something, anything with my huge pile of art supplies that have been collecting dust. Every single day, even if it's just 50 words, even if it's just a simple little sketch. I'm a notorious procrastinator when it comes to my writing, and I can't even remember the last time I picked up my drawing pencils.

It'd certainly be more instantly gratifying than my goal to lose weight, lol.

Hmmm fun! :)

2009 resolutions:
  • Lose 4 to 5 kg
  • Update my blog a lot more
  • Improve my skills
  • Play less Call of Duty online
2009 challenges:
  • Finish a yacht model
  • Create something canon
I'm wondering how much of these will become reality. I'm going for it! :techman: (That last part was an open peptalk, lol)

Hmm.

My professional goals are to:

1. Finish my book and find a publisher.

2. Follow Heinlein's Rules when it comes to writing articles.
a) I will write.
b) I will finish what I write.
c) I will refrain from rewriting, except to editorial order.
d) I will put my work on the market.
e) I will keep it on the market until it's accepted.

If I can just follow these simple rules, I may be able to place as many as five articles this year. I have the necessary research. But to this end, I must...

3. Spend less time engaging in pointless arguments on the internet.

My personal goals are to:

4. Finish furnishing and decorating my apartment.

5. Improve my housework.

6. Eat less and exercise more.

Eat fresher food, by shopping at farmers markets etc.
Go to the gym more regularly.
Memorise a lot more recipes and cook more frequently.
Finish the final touches of DIY in the bathroom.
Learn a new language.
Learn to become more patient with my family.
Give more of my time and attention to those I care about, or at least pick up the phone more often.
Loose 7kg.
Spend more time in prayer and meditation.
Spend more time outdoors.
Work on thinking more positively.
See more of the world.
