All I ever saw was starpigs (disgusting fatties) and granny vulcans (YES! Old ladies wearing pointed ears trying to be T'Pau or something...)!

Rarely did I ever see any attractive girls at conventions...and the one or two there were were swarmed by other dudes...or were there with their boyfriend.

    Ugh. Made me wanna barf.

^^^That was exactly the way it was when I was single. Now that I'm married, I've been to a few conventions. Now I'm seeing single hot girls all over the place.
And yes, they do seem to be swarmed. One attractive young lady mentioned that at conventions she feels like a rock star for that reason.

I gotta say, it's pretty great being a female geek. ;) I definitely had my pick.

I hear you-I've been going to conventions since I was at least 18, and the above-mentioned people were a part of the convention going experience. Only when I started going to Anime North-at the advanced age of 35-I saw nothing but pretty young girls-making me wish I was sixteen again, so that I could get to know them well. In fact, I wish that my first con was an anime one, so that I could find somebody to be with. As for the people in costume...the less said, the better.

Not gonna try and start an argument here, but fans come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. Star Trek has always been about inclusion and tolerance, after all.

    So much for IDIC eh.

Why not switch to another genre if you are so offended by elderly Vulcans.. I suggest James Bond, the females there never age.

I didn't say I was "offended"..."amused" is more the appropriate word...

But as to the starpigs...I kind of feel sorry for them. And they pretty much only caught my eye because there seemed to be disproportionate population of them compared to the rest of us. It's this imbalance that usually draws my scrutiny. I have nothing against fat people per se...

IDIC is still in force...that's why we can be inclusive of people like me who are amused by granny Vulcans and nauseated by starpigs.

Surely you aren't being intolerant of my lack of appreciation for starpigs and granny Vulcans?

I'll bet you did! You probably aren't/weren't a starpig or a granny Vulcan! :guffaw:

Let me ask you.. do you dress up for cons now? Do you think that when you are older with grey hair you should stop dressing up?

Your posts are insulting and don't make a lot of sense. Cons are all about having fun. Trek is over 40 years old so there WILL be fans who are a lot older than you. Why does it amuse you that they dress up as elderly Vulcans? Is dressing up only for the people you think are attractive?

    Awwwww....

Are you a granny Vulcan? Did I hurt your granny Vulcan feelings? Are you a starpig? Clearly, I've struck a nerve here...

I think you are really being intolerant of my feelings. I think you should be more inclusive and appreciative of the fact that I notice the imbalance between the starpigs, granny Vulcans and non-starpigs and non-granny Wulcans.

    :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

No, I've never dressed up...that's not my bag...but to each their own...

I saw a hot gal dressed like Princess Leia in her slave outfit once. I had no qualms about that...:-)

Time to stop feeding this discussion, in my opinion. If he wants to speak about fans that way, fine, but we don't need to egg him on, or provide more fodder.

Yep. I've said everything I have to say on the matter.

Reading your blog makes me soooo want to go to a con DPR. I have only been to one, and not in this country. I might go in a few years, if they are still having them in Aus. Hopefully I can find someone to go with. In the meantime I enjoy reading about and looking at all the pics!
