I find this annoying

Surefire

All Pepsi cans are now sold as 8 packs at the local Raleys stores. Not sure if this is happening everywhere?

I realize companies are trying to trick customers by keeping prices equal, but giving less quantity, but IMO this is ridiculous. I'm also a Pepsi shareholder and realize this may help the bottom line in the short run, but in the long run I believe this may lose customers (I ended up buying a 12 pack of coke even though I don't like coke as much).

Apparently, they've replaced 12-packs with 8-packs and 24-packs with 18-packs. A quick Google search indicates that you're not the only unhappy customer.

They're doing this and keeping prices the same? That's a bunch of bullshit.

Good thing I prefer Coke.

When Pepsi was doing the Star Wars cans promo, I dug through the 12 packs looking for a Darth Maul Mountain Dew can until I found one. The grocery store only charged me for the one can. Don't know if it applies but it might give you an idea to take a single can or bottle and try to get them to ring it up.

(should have tried it with the Yoda can but didn't know it existed)

You can bet that if Pepsi gets away with it, it won't be long before Coke does the same thing.
At which point I will buy 2 liters.

I only drink it when mixed with Captain Morgan anyway...

Didn't they just decrease it from 2 liters to something smaller and still charge the same price on that too?

They tested the 8 packs in Florida first. I was hoping that they would change back. Here is the email that Pepsi sent me when I complained:
Dear Chris,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us about our new packaging introductions.

After reading your message it's clear that we've disappointed you, and for that I'm truly sorry. I'd like to share some of the reasons that prompted the change. As you may imagine, because of the economy, we've had to make some adjustments to our pricing and packaging. Rather than simply raise prices, we’ve done some problem solving around packaging. Our consumers tell us that the 8-pack and 18-pack sizes are good options. It would allow them to stay within a certain budget, and in some households, still be able purchase a variety of flavors for their family.

Please know that the new package sizes will continue to be featured with promotional pricing as often as possible throughout the year.

Again, I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience these changes may have caused you. I'm so glad you contacted us and promise to share your concerns with our packaging team as well as local bottlers. And thank you, always, for being such a loyal and valued consumer.

I think she lied about the part where she said "Our consumers tell us that the 8-pack and 18-pack sizes are good options." I really like Mountain Dew but I'm going to switch to Coca Cola.

I don't know about pop (I only buy cases of pop when I'm throwing a party at a con, and I've only done that once in the past two and a half years), but the brands of ice cream that are sold at my local supermarket have decreased from 1.89 litres to 1.66 or 1.5, and they're still the same price. I recently discovered that another store in the same chain which is a little further away still carries my favourite brand (which was discontinued about six months ago at my local supermarket), which still comes in the same size at the same price ($4.39 for 1.89 litres). So when I can, I just go to the other supermarket to get my ice cream even though it requires a bus ride.

I'd thought about writing a letter of complaint to Breyer's, but never got around to it. (I was also going to write a letter to the manager of my local supermarket for discontinuing Stoney Creek, but never got around to that either.)

Remember just a couple of so years back when Coke decreased it's liter bottle to a slightly less amount but kept the prices the same? Didn't take long until Coke fixed that from all the bitching. Sadly, this time, no amount of bitching will fix this. The stores I ahve been too still have the 12 packs, but I guess eventually they will pull them off the shelve and repackage the, or let them run out.

I switched from Pepsi to Food Lion store brand quite a while ago because of the high prices on twelve packs, 24 can cases/cubes and six packs of 24 oz bottles. That newly mutated Pepsi logo just isn't worth all that extra expense. Coke prices aren't any better, and I don't like canned Coke anyway (don't know why it tastes so different from fountain Coke, which tastes fine).

If I'm shopping at their affiliated chain, Superfood New Choice (comes in 12 oz six packs) is a lot more reasonably priced and tastes good too.

If Pepsi and coke are going to charge so much they could at least use cane sugar instead of the same cheap corn syrup the store brands use.

When I Googled, I saw that exact same letter on several websites and blogs; apparently that's their standard response to complaints, which they seem to be getting a lot of.

Do the shops where you live list a equivalent "per can" or "per 100ml" price on the shelves? I usually just look at that, rather than the price on the packaging, when choosing which size of box or multipack to buy.

In England I think it has always been 8 packs. At least I don't remember ever seeing 12 packs.

Perhaps the 4x3 pack sizes don't fit as well into widescreen tv commercials? :wtf:
