Wal-Mart fouls -- another chain takes the good publicity

See, this is the problem. By forcing suppliers to cut them special deals and other shady business practices, Walmart forces their competitors out of business. So that means that when people look for jobs, the competitors who could (theoretically) offer them better wages and working conditions are out of business, and pretty much the only store in town is Walmart. So the only employer is Walmart.
The same thing Sears Roebuck did many, many years before.

I think not.

He must be in the dough, 'cause there is no way in hell any normal person could afford to give away $1300.00 dollars.

My wife and I gave away $1100 in cash anonymously to struggling relatives and donated about $200 worth of toys and kids clothes this December. We only made about 28k this year after taxes. We're still on a 20k budget though since the other 8 pretty much came in just the last two months with me having a good contract paying in right now. Most of that money went to getting us back on our feet, but we had some left over and we wanted to help other people that are struggling right now.

It all depends on where your priorities are. Just about anybody that's not really struggling could've chosen to do this just by putting off a major purchase. My wife and I (and the seller's high price) decided not to get that Rav4 and so we gave away the money we'd saved for the down payment and licensing etc. Best Christmas Ever.

Ah, but they did.
