4 your eyes only..

Every Bond had a different take on the character (with the exception, I think, of George Lazenby...but, in fairness, he didn't get a chance) and I think that's great. I like silly Bond; I like serious Bond. I'm rarely disappointed with a Bond film. Although, I do admit, some of the Moore-era Bonds dragged in some places, but I don't blame the actor for that one.

'For Your Eyes Only' was average at best. Especially if you have seen all of the Bond movies starting from the beginning.

I don't get the Brosnan hate. 'GoldenEye' is probably my favorite Bond film. It had a great combination of action, story, and a good villain.

Lazenby wasn't a bad Bond, he just didn't distinguish himself. OHMSS is a terrific movie though.

Agreed--he may have been better had he chosen to do more than one Bond film, but as it stands his single portrayal was pretty uninspiring.

However, I think if it had been Connery in OHMSS, it could have been one of the best Bond films of all time.

On the contrary, Connery looked bored off his ass during YOLT, and had smirk like the cat who ate the canary throughout Diamonds Are Forever (and in a way, he did, getting Cubby & Harry to pay him $1 million for his services), but otherwise sleepwalked through that one. I shudder to think how he would have potentially ruined OHMSS, especially the ending. I just can't see him doing it as scripted.

I remember staying at a hotel as kid and there was some cable movie channel that showed like the same 6 films over and over, and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was one of them. Left an impression.

Julian Glover's villain is a bit forgettable, believable, but kinda boring.

Melina Havelock...Carole Bouquet...hotness with a crossbow.

Except you're like my dad and a fan of Diana Rigg :)
Diana Rigg was HOT.
I'd hit it. Even today.

I really wish they had done the Bond movies in novel order and been more faithful to the books. Granted The Spy Who Loved Me won't work on the big screen, but still, I wish the movie canon had been more faithful.

I have never seen a Bond flick I didn't like...

However, I haven't seen this one yet.

Seen "A View to a Kill"?
I know AVTAK has a very bad reputation but I don't find it as bad as people say. I would watch it over Moonranker, Octopussy, Goldeneye and Die Another Day.
I know people have an issue with Roger being too old to play bondin AVTAK but I still enjoyed it and I always will enjoy a bond film no matter if the man playing bond it 30s or 50s.

AVTAK was made in 1985 and it reflects that. Its got Duran Duran doing the opening credit song which sounds "un bond like" but that is what i would exspect from the 1980's because TLD by A-Ha had that same weird 80's sound to it. All the 80's ones do.

I also love AVTK because of Christopher Walkin, Zorin was such a crazy over the top character but not in a cheezy way. Also The Queen of the gay disco, Ms. Grace Jones did a great job at playing a macho female assasin/henchwoman.

The film clearly has some cons too it and by no means is it a strong bond film but I can't say its the worst ever made.

I love For Your Eyes Only. I think it's Moore's best and one of the top 5 in the series. I love the cast (Topol is great), it has a great story, and Bond kicking Locke's car over the edge is a great moment.

Moore's movies are a mixed bag for me overall, but this one is great, and he delivers a strong performance.

I never said he wasn't. If he did more films, he might have reached Connery/Moore fame.

Interesting thing to think about...if Lazenby stayed, would Moore have even been Bond?

What is everyones say on Dalton. I personally thought he was a very good Bond. Clearly no where near Morre or Connery but I find him more enjoyable then Pierce.

I liked him, I thought he was a great Bond, his only problem were the stories weren't that good. He would have excelled if he had better stories to work with.

I rank them two different ways...

Best as Bond
Connery
Dalton
Craig
Brosnan
Moore

Best Movies
Moore
Connery
Craig
Brosnan
Dalton
