4 your eyes only..

My family and I watched this last night on TV, HDnet. And you know what? This movie still holds up. Definately my favorite Roger Moore 007 movie (yes, I liked it better than THE SPY WHO LOVE ME)

Great stunts, my kids loved it as well, and the women were very exotic looking...Better than ANY of the Priece Brosnan snorefests, IMO..

I hated it, it's a snoozefest. It's down there with Octopussy for me.

And I like Octopussy too...which is cool. But Roger Moore, for me, is rated higher than Pierce..And though Moore had clunkers, Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only were pretty good...To me, Brosnan had ONE good movie: Tomorrow Never Dies..Goldeneye was okay...but the rest of the Brosnan movies blew

Moore did well with Live and Let Die, The Man With the Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me. That's it, really. Moonraker was okay, but after that it was all downhill.

FYEO is one of the better Bonds, IMO. The Roger Moore films had kept going over the top. This one brought it back down to earth and was more believable.

Exactly--FYEO is about as close as Moore ever came to doing a more straightforward, stripped down, 'Connery-style' Bond movie. Although in my opinion it doesn't compare to most of the Connery films, it's still the least tongue in cheek of Moore's films.

I love For Your Eyes Only. It's my favorite Moore film. It was certainly a huge improvement over Moonraker.

FYEO is also my favorite Moore-as-Bond movie. He was my first Bond, and this was the movie where I first got into the franchise. I never really got into the earlier Connery films, other than Never Say Never Again, which does have a certain charm about it, even though it doesn't really count.

Moore was a terrible Bond, too much smirking., Mind you, he was great as Simon Templar, and quite good in movies like The Wild Geese.

What's wrong with typing "For" instead of "4"? How old are you? Learn how to write!!

Anyway, "For Your Eyes Only" is one of the better Moore-era Bond movies.
I especially loved the cold blooded way he boots Locque's car down the mountain.
They should have dropped the embarrasing Bibi Dahl character though.

It's also about time that people stopped blaming particular actors for the movies they are in, as if they are responsible for how they are written or produced. Pierce Brosnan was always vocal about the tone he wanted in his movies ... I don't think the invisible car was his idea!

Similarly, Daniel Craig isn't responsible for the mess that is Quantum of Solace.

.

Yet some actors do take credit for a direction a character takes and/or have major influnces in the way they go (Patrick Steward and Brent Spiner I'm looking at you).

Fox Classics on Australian paytv ran through the first 16 Bond films and include some interviews with Rodger Moore and well lets while things did go a bit over the top with say Moonraker, much of the character we saw of Bond in those films owed a lot to his input.

Also if you listen to the commentary on the he recorded for Eyes Only, Moore also talks about his input there.
