Was Voyager aware of Dominion War

Hello

Did Voyager leave DS9 before the Dominion war started or was the war present and the Voyager crew new about it while they were stuck in Delta quadrant????

They were transported to the DQ in 2371, two years before the war.

They found out about the war in 2374 or 2375. Can't remember if the Doctor found out when he was in the AQ or it was part of a message sent by Starfleet after they set up communication channels.

Oh ok thanks for the info but there is a slight confusion that i have because i remember on one of the episodes where Tom Paris is teaching someone how to fly a shuttle craft (i think it might be KES not sure) anyways in the simulation there were two Jemhadar ships attacking them and this is in like 2nd or 3rd season so before doc transported back to alpha quadrant or before they established the com link with star fleet. or am i wrong lol because i cant remember well and i will have to look back at my dvd collection and see it again.

There was an episode where the Doctor was somehow aboard an experimental Starfleet ship with a newer version of the holographic doctor who told him about the Dominion War. I think that's the first time Voyager heard about it. Later, when they begin receiving communications from family and friends, they find out, among other things, that the Maquis were wiped out by the Dominion.

The episode your looking for is Message in a Bottle was when the Doctor was sent to that ship.

They had a vague awareness, first learned by The Doctor when he teleported/whatever to the alpha quad, and then later in the data transmissions that told of the Dominion War and the destruction of the Marquis.

I doubt they got a lot of details. Probably were just given a very preliminary briefing on the who, what, where, and whens. Space was established to be limited, and communications to and from families as well as Starfleet data on the Delta Quad and new technologies was a priority.

Also, considering the whomping the Federation was taking, you don't want to send this poor lost ship that still may not make it home for 50 years news that billions are dying in a senseless war and...oh...Betazed just got occupied.

Kinda demoralizing.

They knew there was a war. That's about it.

First contact with the Dominion was made in late 2370 before Voyager was transported to the DQ. The ship's database would have been updated to included what little information there was about the Dominion at the time, which would have included the Jem'Hadar and the Jem'Hadar attack ship.

^ Indeed, Dominion first contact was in 2370 and Voyager was transported in 2371. The war didn't start for Years after first contact with the Dominion. It's possible there was Dominion data in Voyagers database but the Dominion wasn't well known about to the Voyager crew like it was by people on DS9.

As per stardates, the Voyager sailed out from DS9 a few weeks after Sisko had been through his "The Search" ordeal of virtual first contact with the Dominion rulers. No doubt Janeway and Sisko had had a little briefing over some coffee, bringing up the following issues:

-Yeah, those Jem'Hadar folks really were nasty
-Yeah, that's what sort of ships they flew
-Yeah, they were invisible, and the Founders were shapeshifters
-Yeah, Sisko would blow the wormhole up at the first sight of trouble, so if Janeway at any point became stranded in a strange Quadrant, trying to access the wormhole would not be a good idea at all...

I agree with Bacl and Timo, I think at least the senior staff had some vauge knowledge of the conflict. I am not sure if they were given all the details, espically while the war was not going to well for the Federation.
When Chakotay learns about the Marquis, he tells B'Elanna about this species from the GQ, he is not to specific though, as if he is not really sure who or what the Federation was dealing with at the time.

Ok when Voyager came back home was the Dominion war present or was it all over????

they probably did have them in the system because the fleet was probably getting ready for war, so probably had them flying battle patterns designed to defeat the jem's.

Would've been an epic cliffhanger if they got back to the Federation and it'd been conquered while they were away.

Bumping a 8 year old thread?

The earlier posts already said it all. No, they weren't getting ready for war when Voyager left DS9. It isn't in Starfleet's nature. That why they were getting whupped at first even with the Klingons involved....

It was after The Search so Dominion ships may have been added to Starfleet training programs, but they certainly knew little of the actual war.

Didnt know this thread was that old, just became a fan myself (round about a year now i guess) when I seen this insanely gorgeous vulcan woman with golden olive skin, and a personality that was just amazing in every aspect (bless the man who made decontamination gel). If I could ever find a woman with T'pol or 7 of 9 personality (wow)

Exactly I imagine it being the admiralty telling Janeway "Yeah we're fighting an aweful war and people are seriously considering surrender. Janeway "can't demoralize the crew by telling them the bad news." So probably limited knowledge for joe and Jane crewman senior staff probably only got general overview.
