I'm trying to remember...did they ever actually CALL HIM Amazo on the show? It's such a silly and outdated name, I seem to recall they only ever called him "the android" on JLU.

Why do need a pictures of Gort thread?

Are you kidding?? Gort is a touchstone of SF in visual fiction!! Re-creating it for a new movie is SF Nirvana of epic proportions. Shame on you.

RAMA*insulted he had to answer this affront to SF*:techman:

So...the new Gort is just a buff male 3D mesh with no face and a Cylon eye? Lame.

Let's put it this way...they came up with all sorts of designs and decided that a modern variation of the classic Gort was the best way to go. They took the form of Gort and turned it into what they probably would have done if they had the technology of the time.

Hmm, doesn't Gort look familiar?

Someone described the piece of shit that is the abominable remake of TDTESS with Keanu fucking Reeves as "SF Nirvana of epic proportions."

:wtf:

Shame on me?

I just recently completed a 3D model of Gort for a fellow board member, Redfern, who did this with it:

I also made a "Li'l Gort" from it ...

In Harry Bates's original story "Farewell to the Master," the robot was actually named "Gnut," and was described as looking very human, other than being 8' tall and made of greenish metal with red glowing eyes, and nude except for a loincloth:

Other than having only one eye and being about 10x taller, the new Gort actually comes closer to resembling the original description.
