Holy God, this is some story! Glad you're back home, Bob - long may you get to stay there. Hope you have lots of DVDs to watch.

 I don't remember if I posted what the surgeon and anaesthetist in Hull said before they blue lighted me to Leeds.
The anaesthetist said his head of dept. said "not to touch you with a barge pole", and the surgeon said they were sending me to Leeds because "We don't really like dead patients on our hands."
You know, confidence inspiring stuff.

Nice.

Dead patients create a lot of paperwork you know. The forms are a nightmare. :D
You know, that didn't bother me too much, I suppose I was happy to hear it straight after a full day of them getting pissed off trying to get answers. What did bother me was when they said I could end up stuck on a ventilator, that to me is my worst nightmare. But the surgeons in Leeds seemed a lot more optimistic but I believe they did have 3 anaesthetists and surgeons on hand at all times during the operation.

Just thought I'd post an update. The nurse measured the hole, it's 8cm by 6cm. And the local tissue viability nurse is coming tomorrow to assess it for the vac pack, or whatever other dressings she thinks it needs...

^ They just want to wrap you up nicely, so you'll look pretty under the tree on Christmas morning. :D

Are you at least feeling a bit better/stronger?

You're up for the lead in Mummy IV. :D

I hope you have no more complications.

I'm not feeling bad, a little sore, and tired, because I'm not sleeping well. I sleep on my side so it's not exactly comfortable. I guess I should be doing a bit more but i'm feeling paranoid about laughing/coughing etc. with the open wound.

Another update. The Tissue viability nurse has been, she's not happy to put the vac on it yet, and she wants to talk with the providers to make sure there are no contraindications with my existing health problems. So another week or two of traditional dressings while they're happy to go ahead with it.

I guess the best that can be said about that is "at least it's not bad news!"

I hope you get some great Christmas presents Bob, otherwise this is not going to be a good holiday season for you!

Not sure anyone will want to see this, so I'm spoilering it, but i got a pic of the wound a few days ago if any morbidly curious types want a look... not for squeemish types.

"See kids, that's what Santa gives you when you haven't been a good boy". :D
I'd love to know what bad I did for it, because I don't remember enjoying anything that much this year.

Maybe if you dig really deep in there, you'll find a present instead?

Go on, you know it feels itchy...

Now, tell the truth, you've been sending that pic around to everyone you know don't you? After more sympathy Christmas pressies, aren't you? :D

Sorry, I don't have that strong a stomach - I've left that link alone!

Hope things are continuing to improve though Bob.
