Star Trek: Next Generations

Deuce

Cadet
Newbie
Some years ago I came up with "Star Trek" storiesof my own. I freely admit they probably are not the best. But recently I have thought about writing these stories out to see how they pan out. I came up with some stories. The first one takes place 20 years after the events of Star Trek Nemesis. It takes place on the new USS Enterprise-F.

Here are the characters:
Captain Jake Kirk (great grandson of Peter Kirk)
Enterprise Captain / Age: 30

Commander Michael Johnson
Enterprise First Officer / Age: 29

Dr. Leslie Kyle
Enterprise Chief Medical Officer / Age: 29

Lt. Commander Brad Saxon
Enterprise Navigator / Age: 26

Primary Plot of these stories:

"Star Trek: Next Generations" / Year: 2399
While the USS Enterprise-F is being set to embark on its first mission. The Klingon Empire finds themselves is disarray. An unknown individual is trying to split the empire up from within. The current Klingon Chancellor secretly asks the Federation for help in the investigation. The Enterprise is then redirected to assit the Chancellor in his investigation.

"Star Trek: Alliance" / Year: 2400
Another Klingon Civil War breaks out after the discovery of the renegade Klingon, Jake Kirk and crew attempt to put a stop to the renegades plot to overthrow the Klingon Chancellor.

"Star Trek: Final Encounter" / Year: 2400
With the Klingon Renegade forces dwindling, Kirk and crew must finally put an end to their forces once and for all.

"Star Trek: Redemption" / Year: 2402
Two years after the events of the "Klingon Uprising", all seems well in the Alpha Quadrant. However, there are still some Klingons that wanted the war with the Federation after they took over the Empire. The Enterprise is sent out to find these outlaws and bring them to justice.

"Star Trek: The Q Return" / Year: 2404
Enterprise is once again back to exploring new worlds. Kirk and crew are happy. Jake Kirk and Leslie Kyle are to be married. However, Q returns to actully help the Enterprise with a very real threat. A rouge Q is threatening to wreak havoc on many sectors of the Alpha Quadrant. Kirk and Q must work together to stop Rouge Q from causing anymore damage.

"Star Trek: Passage of Time" / Year: 2406 & 1996
The Enterprise is returning to Earth for some much needed R&R. Once they arrive they come to find that something has happened. History has been altered. Earth seems to be overrun by what they describe as "Super Soldiers". Upon investigation they come to realize that the Eugenics Wars have been altered. They must now travel to 20th Century Earth (1996) to restore the timeline to its rightful existence.

"Star Trek: The Death of Kirk" / Year: 2408
A Federation traitor was attempting to send information to the Gorn. He has escaped from capture. The Enterprise is sent out to find him. On their mission Jake Kirk meets a telepath with the ability to see the future. Jake Kirk is given a glimpse of his future. This is when he discovers that he is going to have to make a choice that could be very well the final choice of his life.

*Give me your opinions on these. I truly am considering to write out the entire stories to see how it works.

I think you should just start with "The Q Return." I'm sick to death of Star Trek being turned into a war show. The other stories have possibilities, although the "back to exploring new worlds" is really what I want to see.

The thing that intrigued me most was the trip back to 1996 to "set right" the Eugenics Wars. It could be an interesting tie-in to Voyager and Deep Space Nine to explain why the Voyager crew saw no war during their trip and why Bashir placed the war a hundred years later than we knew it to be. ;)

The war shows would actually be more drama based with very limited battle sequences. They also would set the characters up more. However, I do believe I could start with "The Q Return" as more of a set up story.

That is exactly what I wanted to do with the Eugenics Wars. I'm basing it off that the Eugenics Wars happened but it was kept from the public.

Also, part of me is worried that it would be weird to have a Kirk as the captain. Even though it is the great grandson of Peter Kirk.

Any ideas on characters? Also, I actually could put those Klingon Uprising stories all into one story.

I don't think it's a problem having a Kirk in the show; they've never had a descendant or relative of the original cast (with the exception of Demora, but she was a guest, not a regular).

As for characters, I think it would be nice to have at least one "special" character; every show has had at least one Spock, Data, Odo, Doctor type character. Even though most fan films don't seem to have such a character (although Exeter's B'fuselek counts), I think it's important to the Trek concept to feature an alien or other exotic character.

I have made some modifications to these stories. I now agree that to start with "The Q Return" would be a good way to start these off.

I haven't come up with an "alien" character yet. I am thinking about using Miral Paris as a character in these. I am also planning to make the characters a little bit older but not by much.

Now this one I am going back and forth on. I am contemplating using Alexander Munro (main character from the Elite Force games). Probably going to use him as a Captain of another ship (leaning toward the name USS Lexington or USS Phoenix).

If anyone has ship ideas or character names please feel free to respond.

My first thought would be to bump up the ages. Significantly. One of the problems I had with pbem stuff was that everyone had characters in their twenties - which gave no realism, very little history/background or experience.

The older the better - you have more possibilities for interesting backgrounds that way.

I'm doing a similar thing at the moment - every time I come up with a good story a few yeas later someone else makes money from a similar idea so I figured, what the smeg... and one of the best things I've done is to add a lot of history and depth to the characters which makes them far more interesting.

30 for a Captain is incredibly young - especially when the average life expectancy is 130/140. One of the ways I thought about age was that I was 25... at best,if I were an officer, I'd be a Lt JG. Graduating at 22 theres no way I'd climb the ladder that quickly even if I wee especially gifted.

I have made some changes to the characters at this point. Here is the rundown of what I now have. This "The Q Return" story will feature two ships. The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F) and USS Lexington (NCC-41187). The story will take place in the year 2398. I'm also using normal dates because I'm not good at figuring star dates.

USS Enterprise Crew
Captain Jake Kirk
*Great Grandson of Peter Kirk (obviously I'm not taking into account the Phase II gay story they used recently)
*Born on Earth, March 12, 2363 (35 years old)

Commander Steven Johnson (changed from Michael)
*Mother and father both served in Starfleet
*Born on Earth, July 22, 2363 (32 years old)

Dr. Leslie Kyle (Lieutenant Commander)
*Born on Cestus III, September 19, 2368 (30 years old)

Lieutenant Commander Brad Saxon
*Born on Earth, May 5, 2370 (28 years old)
*Helmsman

Lieutenant Commander Valrek
*Vulcan female
*Born on Vulcan, birthdate unknown (believed to be 50 Earth years old)

Ensign Miral Paris
*Engineering officer
*Born on USS Voyager, May 23, 2378 (20 years old)

USS Lexington Crew (still in progress)
Captain Alexander Munro
*Born on Earth, May 1, 2349 (49 years old)
(I use some elements from the Elite Force games for his background)

Commander Anthony Thomas
*USS Lexington First Officer
*Birthplace unknown / Born on February 4, 2366 (32 years old)

That's all for now. Still working on some of the Lexington characters. Hope to have the story truly underway soon. If anyone has any input please feel free. I'm just doing this for the hell of it.

And new shows introduce new aliens, maybe there could be one if not in the main cast but on the ship, and for some continuity there could even be android and holographic crew members since their development would have progressed and be more accepted as individuals.

^^ That's a great idea. Suppose Geordi spent years studying his records of Data (as well as B-4) and was ultimately able to recreate the Soong-style android as an homage and tribute to his friend. Perhaps a female to recognize Data's attempt to create a daughter. It would be interesting to see a "female Data."
