The Cult of the Bumpy Forehead

There were plenty of non-forehead aliens shown in the trek films; check out the memory alpha page of federation members for some choice examples from TMP and TVH.

Yeah, I knew those of course
I just think the simple bumpy forehead aliens could go for good.

At least the ratio should be something like this
Human crew members: 60%
"Strange" Aliens like Saurians, Kelvin guy: 30%
Simple humanoid Aliens (Vulcans, Bajorans for example):10%

Instead of 80%-1%-19%% like it was on post TOS-Trek

And I'd also put designs like the Cardies, Klingons, Denobulans, Talaxians etc. in the "simple" category.

There's a very good reason to conclude that there wouldn't be a Horta anywhere on the 1701-D.

It's clearly stated in "Devil in the Dark" that the Horta can exist in "our atmosphere" for only a short period of time. This is a logical statement, based upon the best ideas about how silicon-based life might work... an atmosphere high in oxygen would be poisonous to silicon-based life.
I'd say speculation, rather than a clear statement,

MCCOY: Silicon-based life is physiologically impossible, especially in an oxygen atmosphere.
SPOCK: It may be, Doctor, that the creature can exist for brief periods in such an atmosphere before returning to its own environment.

but I'd agree that there would be practical difficulties in having a Horta serving aboard a starship designed for humans.

How about Melkots, anyone? Or even more alien, a symbiotic lifeform such as the one seen in ENT's "Vox Sola"?

Political correctness? Seriously, you're gonna go there?
Care to comment on any OTHER aspect of the post?

Why? It didn't address the question I posed in the thread, so I chose not to reply.
I thought that this was the question posed in the thread:
This brings up, then, who exactly are the people who believe that most Trek aliens should follow in the traditions of TNG and the subsequent shows, and be humanoid with bumps on their heads? I've personally always followed what Orci states here — e.g., there's nothing to say that there isn't a Horta below decks somewhere on the Enterprise-D — and don't know if Anthony was overstating this in his question or not. Are there really people who believe this?
And that's exactly what my post was addressing. That there IS good reason to say that there isn't a Horta below decks somewhere on the Enterprise-D.

If my question was solely about the Horta, then yeah, you've got a good point. Alas, it wasn't!

I thought Tholians always looked cool. The ENT version, not the TOS one.

You know when I read the Lost Era book The Sundered I had a picture in my head of what I thought the Tholians looked like (at this point I forgot looked like in TOS since it had been a while scince I saw the episode). Anyway when In A Mirror Darkly premiered the Tholians looked almost like I imagined them it was weird.
