is it time for a doctor who/star trek crossover?

Maybe in one of the doctor who specials, prefferbaly with the cast of TNG. The villians would have to be either Klingons, Daleks or Borg.

What do you think?

Yes, because a prancing, preening version of The Master who plays crappy British dance music and keeps a Dobby/Doctor in a birdcage is really the kind of exemplary writing we want to see in Star Trek.

Lord forbid a modern British show play British dance music. :)

I agree with Dennis. Let's see it done by a creative team that has successfully resurrected a franchise, not one that neglected and killed a franchise. (barring the new movie, hopefully)

That said, it must have the Shat. As a Sontaran.

It's better than Kirk being a rebellious teenager being abused by his drunk uncle.

It's better than Romulans with tattoos.

It's better than starships with registries starting with zero.

Hell, half the movies and a major plot thread of Enterprise were rooted in time travel. I think we're there already.

I read such a crossover once. It involved the Fourth Doctor showing up on Kirk's Enterprise. I can't remember who crossed over to whose universe, but I do know that they are separate:
In the Doctor's universe, Vulcan tore itself apart in civil war; conversely, Gallifrey does not exist in Trek's world, since its sun went nova eons ago and destroyed every planet in the system.

And for some reason, no character on the Enterprise was ever identified by name. It was all just The Captain, The Physician, The Engineer, etc. I always wondered why. Maybe it was some copyright thing.

I am fairly sure that no (canon) Trek production has ever actually mentioned Doctor Who, but what about the reverse? Does Trek ever get a shout-out in DW?

There are a few DW references in Trek, so I'll leave that to someone else. In Doctor Who, Rose once disguised the Doctor by giving him the alias of Mister Spock. The Doctor was a bit annoyed with that name.

Yes, it was.

Hmmm. That seems odd.

As I recall, the actual USS Enterprise was mentioned. That's as much a copyrightable character as anyone else. And of course there was the Doctor himself, who *was* mentioned by 'name'.

Please do. I thought I knew my Trek well enough; I certainly don't remember it actually mentioning DW directly. If this ever did happened, I'd be interested to see where it was.

And don't anyone even try to tell me that DW is "above" such things. We already know it isn't, apparently. ;)

Also I know about Patrick Stewart's appearance...as:
the Meddling Monk

at one point don't the names of all the actors who played the Doctor in the classic ceries appear on a screen in TNG?

I surely hope such a crossover never comes to pass. These are always a bad idea and this particular one seems like it would be such a clash of styles it would be unworkable.
