I no huge fan of Kes myself but she not so bad. This good episode, sad to see her go but done in a very nice way. She not dead so chance to come back is there.

You are right about that. It would be great to have her return in some book as the Kes we did see in seasons 1-3.

Yeah, one of the worst sci-fi cliche's next to the reset button.

If fans got sick of these types of ideas on the show, why would they ever carry them over into the books too?

The one thing I liked in the String Theory books was the portrayal of Romulans; she had those down pretty well. I'm always interested in them, and it was worth it for that.

I also liked the explanation in the "String Theory" books because I found it very appropriate since the pathetic monster we saw in "Fury" had no resemblance at all to the real Kes and therefore couldn't be the real Kes.

A very good way to save a beloved character from unnecessary, pointless destruction.

However, I did find the end of the book lame, I really wish that they will bring back Kes as a permanent character in the Voyager relaunch books. If they do, I might start buying the books again.

Ok, I was just listening to this episode again on my iPod (I have the soundtracks digitized), and I was reminded of a problem I always encounter with this episode.

To wit, that I don't understand how, if Kes is barely making it to the shuttle bay without blowing the hull open -- why doesn't her condition destabilize the matter in the shuttle, too? How is she able to fly away in the shuttle?

I would be happy for someone to give me a plausible reason for this course of events; not that it really makes any difference to my enjoyment. This episode was chock full of good stuff.

It does, isn't that the reason why her and the shuttle both disappear?

I think I recall that show more then any other.

Really, I did enjoy Kes and was a little unwell with 7 of 9.

It did not take me that long before I warmed up to 7 of 9.
