HEROES 3x11 "The Eclipse, Part 2" Discuss and Grade

She's fast, but she would still suffer from an impact.

She must have SOME sort of built-in protection to prevent her from burning up due to air friction. I believe DC retconned the Flash to be protected by an invisible aura from the universal "speed force" or whatever they're calling it.

If she's REALLY all that fast, she could do more Flash-like stunts like running in a circle to envelop a foe in a cyclonic vortex or waving her arm fast enough to generate air currents that could throw a foe into a wall or off a roof. The thing is, nobody is really EXPLORING their abilities on the show to see if such things can be accomplished in the Heroesverse.

True dat...I almost mentioned that only she and Mohinder seem to be interested in finding out exactly what they are capable of, particularly since her video diary was fairly key to the first season.

I thought that scene with Nathan slamming Hatian's bro into the car was really cool. And totally unexpected! Way to go Nate!

as for Bryan Fuller Im glad he will return but geez I dont know if he can really save this show. Maybe if he was allowed to get rid of the pointless or ruined characters (Claire, Sylar, Hiro, Mohinder) & work with the still salvagable ones but NBC is gonna want him to keep the popular ones anyway & some of those are the ones that relly need to go.

Well, from the first episode of season 3, we see Daphne able to move while Hiro paused time... so really, I figured that it wasn't just super speed, but rather an ability to warp time around her, only with the effect of having her go really fast. Like when she explained how Parkman had a pause in his speech, and pauses seem like hours to her...

Kinda like the time-accelerator device in Batman the animated series. Anyone remember that episode?!?!?!

So really, if she punched someone super fast, in her own little personal time-space bubble, she'd be punching at a normal speed, while in regular time-space, she's making like street fighter and doin a sonic boom (ala Guile).

^Now if that were the case, I could actually buy the idea of these characters forming a bond. So far they haven't sold me on that relationship at all. Parkman has acted far more creepy and stalkerish than West was crucified for having done.

I think Gabe is trying to fool his old man, and at the same time send Elle off from the only life she's known, as the company girl, and sent her away from danger. Nobody will come looking for her if they think she's dead. Doesn't mean that we'll see Elle again, either!

The odd ambiguous way that scene ended makes me think the producers are leaving their options open for Kristen Bell's schedule opening up sometime in the future.

I didn't buy how Noah left Sylar with just a slit neck. He is not supposed to be that stupid. Anybody with Noah's background would have made sure to cute up the body much more extensively (in case Sylar's powers kicked back in).

I think if Elle was really a psychopath, by even thestandards found in Smurf Village, that she could have made Sylar backoff with a few choice words like "After you slit open my neck, stick your diddle in it and ride me to hell."

Is there anyone else who he's murdered a love one who is silly enough to get wet over that? Well i suppose if they're still trying to pair Mohindra and Maya after he webbed her up for food... If he's really becoming a spider does that mean that he can now only have an orgasm when his mate snaps his head off his torso... Then Sylar is still in with a chance with her because of how he romanitcally murdered her brother.

I guess the fact that the eclipse was obliterating the powers wasn't clear to Noah? Or he thought it was the eclipse, but the effect was permanent? After all, he didn't rush back to save Claire when the eclipse started, and negated her healing power. He only seemed to make the connection when he realized that Claire's power had vanished and returned in parallel to the eclipse.

Here's my theory du jour about Sylar's parentage. After Arthur was disappointed by Nathan being a mundane, he decided to open Pinehearst Fertility Clinic as a cover for experiments using his an Angela's DNA. This resulted in two viable fetuses. (Or maybe more, hee hee. But I'll hold that thought for now.)

He chose one for Angela and the other he saved for a random couple who came to the clinic looking for help in conceiving - Mr. and Mrs. Gray. He wanted to increase the odds of having a son with his own "sponge" power, but enhanced, and splitting the fetuses made for a nice nature vs. nurture experiment.

This would mean Angela, Arthur and Noah are all correct - Gabriel is a Petrelli in one sense (genetic) but not in any other - and maybe the full story wasn't in the file that Noah would have access to (why would he? he's just a hired gun). It would also explain why Zach and Milo could be close in age, yet brothers who are not twins. And it would be an interestingly creepy improvement over either of the stories we've been told about Gabriel's origins - he's not the normal son of anyone.

So you mean to tell me that the big eclipse, this symbolic huge thing that has always been in the logo and was built up to just means their powers go away temporarily and then come back?

God this show is shit.

This show is starting to remind me of a writing exercise in one of my high school english classes WAAAAY back in the 90's. The class was divided into smaller groups, and each group was responsible for writing a short story. One member of the group would write the first paragraph, then they'd hand it over to the next member to write the second paragraph, and so forth. What you often ended up with was a bunch of people who didn't like each others' stories, each one contriving up some ham-handed bullshit transition to get them from the story they were handed to the story they wanted to write.

This describes Heroes perfectly. I don't mind a few small inconsistencies or retconning, but it's like the writers don't even bother to watch previous episodes to make sure what they're doing in the new ones makes the least bit of sense in the show's universe.
