Batman 3 Production?

David Tennant as re-imagined Riddler plz.

Yeah I've heard this rumor a lot as well.

I think it would be a risk to cast him in such a high profile film in his first hollywood outing - but if it did happen I'm sure he'd be excellent.

Coincidence corner - both Tennant and Heath Ledger have played Casanova.

I always wanted to see Tennant's Dr Who predecessor, Chris Eccleston, as The Joker, but even he would have been hard placed to top Mr Ledger's performance. Personally, I want to see the Riddler played by someone small, smug, intelligent and creepy, like David Hyde-Pierce (Niles in Frasier) or the guy who plays Ben in Lost.

Ron Perlman as Solomon Grundy.

There should be gobs of villains, most bounty hunters trying to nab the Batman.

"BOUNTY ON THE BAT"

What about Bane? Make him a South American bounty hunter with a steroid fetish?

My opinion on Batman's redemption would be to have an outside put the pieces together. Maybe an investigative reporter. Vicki Vale maybe. She can't make any sense out of the fact that a man who saved Gotham twice would knock off Dent and so many people so they could do a subplot with Vale seeking the truth. Maybe a shadowy deepthroat character could aid her in her quest. The deepthroat character could be Alfred going behind Bruce's back. Might be good.

I've also thought it might be a great idea if Batman twists the public's criminal perception of him to go undercover Donny Brasco style and attempt to infiltrate a resurging Gotham mob scene led by Oswald Cobblepot. Perhaps have him meet Selina Kyle who is attempting to bring down the mob for her own reasons. What reasons? Borrow those from the comics. She may or may not be the last heir to the Falcone criminal empire. With Cobblepot out of the way and Batman at her side Gotham could be hers.

Might not be a bad flick.

The problem with the Riddler is that he's only as clever as the person writing him and since not many super-genius types write movies or comics, he's rarely as clever as he should be. Of course the flip side of that is that if he's too clever then you risk confusing the audience. Catch 22.

Both links are shady. Consider all references to Batman 3 to be RUMOR until confirmed by Christopher Nolan. Last time he spoke, he said he wasn't even considering a sequel yet.

However I think WB would not want Nolan having 3 characters in one movie because they will want to carry no the franchise past him and who's left after that ?

Clayface, the Phantasm, Harley Quinn, The Clock King

The general movie goer non mega Batman fan like me will say huh  and I can't see them being made into these more realistic gritty Batman movies, they suit the more campy ones ie - MR FREEZE.

The clock king?? Harley Quinn?? Phantasm?? (wears a mask like Batman) hardly campy

There's an article in http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39348 , puportedly dealing with an interview with Nolan. Here's the gist of what he said:

-He really studied how to approach a sequel - what works versus what doesn't. His goal was to "provide a new experience, stretch in all directions" He wanted to delve deeper into the characters, both old & new and stage the action and story on a "grander scale", using an "operatic sensibility"

If he made a third film, it would be for no reason but the continuation of story. He is currently looking into where the story would go and if it needs to go there. He maintained that it's very hard to make a movie of this scale (and specified he wasn't asking for our sympathy, drawing a laugh from the crowd) - it's two hard years and you gotta love it. One of his biggest fears is getting halfway through making a film and realizing it's unnecessary and he doesn't want to make it anymore. If there is a third story that needs to be told, there will be a third film, but nothing is set in stone or a given.

They just did that in The Dark Knight. No matter how clever they make him Riddler would never be able to screw around with Batman and Gotham better than the Joker just did. It would be better to do something with an adversary other than screwing around with people. I mean really the first movie showed us what it took to make a Batman. The second movie showed how far Batman would go. The third movie should really explore something knew other than how much a bad guy can fuck with him.

Well technically that is what a lot of the Batman villains do, screw with Gotham City

The clock king??hardly campy

He was a member of Justice League Antarctica!

Not how the character originally started

No... he started as a man with a CLOCK for a head!

That's like saying the Joker started in live action form as Caesar romero, campy

Huh? Your argument was that he wasn't originally a campy character - in his first appearance he's got a CLOCK FOR A HEAD and is ringing a bell up a clock tower!

Please provide the issues you read where he wasn't a camp silly character? What story with clock king in it doesn't scream "joke!". The one where he still lives with his mother and has to take the bus?

I am not even talking about the comics, talking about the excellent portrayal of the character in Batman The Animated Series
