Batman 3 Production?

The 3rd Nolan film, which am calling The Batman will probably have the same 3 year gap or may even 4, they will need to fit it in to Bale's current Terminator 3 movie contract and am sure he would like to do some non franchisr stuff too.

I think we will see The Riddler in the movie as some sort of Joker esq character but one you would want to kill Batman unlike the Joker. You could also have him working for the Penguin (mob boss nothing to do with actually peguins) and also the catwomen as a high skilled thief.

However I think WB would not want Nolan having 3 characters in one movie because they will want to carry no the franchise past him and who's left after that ?

The first movie worked fine with a second-tier villain and another baddie even more obscure to the general public.

Maybe you can have villains that have arcs extending more than one movie. Catwoman would probably be the easiest one to keep around.

The general movie goer non mega Batman fan like me will say huh and I can't see them being made into these more realistic gritty Batman movies, they suit the more campy ones ie - MR FREEZE.

I would love to see Batman using some more of his Detective skills in the third one, I know there hasn't really been enough screen time in the previous two films but if they decide to use Nigma as the villan I could see some of that happening. David Tennant as Riddler would rock! We need a cerebral Riddler not over the top like Jim Carrey's was. I'm curious to see David Goyer's original three movie treatment...

Batman Forever is the Batman movie that introduced bat nipples at the end when he is in his new suit, if you can call it that....then Batman & Robin continued with the suits....what the hell were they thinking?

I wonder what a true third and fourth Batman films would have been like it they were more like Batman (1989) and Batman Returns

Batman Forever is only watchable in the most basic of senses, but it was the start of the descent into insanity that would kill that movie franchise. All of the ear marks are there. Forever is just better than the par that would be achieved by B&R.

Forever's biggest problem was casting a department store mannequin for Batman/Bruce.

I, personally, would've gone with a real, live, emotive human being. But that is me.

Joel Schumacher said that out of all the on-screen Batmen, Val Kilmer was his favorite, however I am not sure if this was before or after he saw Christian Bale's performance, since this was on the commentary for the Anthology DVD of Batman Forever that was released right around the time Batman Begins was released on DVD.

I think Kilmer was my least favorite. I'd have to agree with Trekker -- erm, sorry -- Scrooge that he had very little persona or screen presence. He felt very flat to me as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Like he had no personality. Even given a lackluster script and direction, George Clooney even managed to inject his Bruce Wayne with enough charisma and charm.

Of that series of films, Clooney is my favorite Batman. Sorry, Michael Keaton but handsome, buff, billionare playboy you are not.

Unfortuanly, Clooney was saddled with a dog-awful directing and somehow an even more abysmal script. But Clooney certainly has the screen presence and "suave handsome billionare playboy" look and act down making him an excellent Bruce Wayne. With time and the right directing he probably could've been a pretty good Batman too.

Yeah I've heard this rumor a lot as well.

I think it would be a risk to cast him in such a high profile film in his first hollywood outing - but if it did happen I'm sure he'd be excellent.

Technically, his first Hollywood outing was one of the Harry Potter films, no?

As for who the next villain should be, there's certainly no end of candidates and it all depends on what kind of story they want to do.
For the sake of personal choice I'd really like to see Selena be given a similar treatment as her recent comic book solo series. Less of an out and out villain and more of a rival vigilante with her own way of doing things (with a slight Robin Hood slant.) What I'd hate to see is just another excuse to get an attractive woman into a suggestive costume and act like a cartoon feminist.

Might be interesting if the other antagonist could be Talia, making it a bit of a femme fatale film. Not something you often see done tastefully.
Cobblepot as an underworld fence and information broker (iceberg lounge and all) would be a good fit in a Gotham with a fracturing criminal fraternity and bent cops running for cover.
Freeze...that's a tough one. I LOVE the Timm/Dini take on the character and Michael Ansara's performance was definitive. I just don't think that character can work very well on film, especially not with Nolan's more grounded take on Gotham. At the very least the mechanics of the cryo suit and freeze gun would have to be rethought.

Is there an existing Batman villain who fits this possible story line?

Sorry I'm not a Harry Potter fan so wasn't aware of that.
Harry Potter is a mainly British film though (financed by Hollywood obviously)

A US production would be a different matter - especially giving Tennant a leading role.

I'm sure he would be brilliant, but Hollywood studios would probably see it as a risk.

Why would they think Batman killed him? Batman was taking the blame for killing the people Harvey killed, but as far as anyone's concerned, didn't they think Harvey died in the hospital explosion? Thus making Joker his killer?

Gordon was telling his fellow cops that if anyone asked, Harvey got out of the hospital, but they knew it was possible he didn't.

oops. You're right. It's been months since I've seen it. But Batman remains a vicious murderer (officially) and someone will be hunting him and it won't be Gordon since he is known to have close ties to Batman.
