Hey Music Lover

Favorite genres: Metal(black, death, thrash, doom, sludge, viking etc.), Folk, Prog Rock, Hardcore........

Last tracks listened to? "Nar Alver Sina Runor Sjungit" by Vintersorg and "So. Central Rain" by REM.

I love all sorts of music. If "mashup" could be a genre, then I guess you could call it my favourite. :bolian: Got into it during its heyday in 2001-2002, even when it was declared "dead" as a musical fad, but it's still popular.

Last played: Busta Rhymes vs Mike Oldfield :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Although to fully appreciate mashup as a genre, you really ought to try and mix a few of your own, in my opinion. I did, and the results were, well, mixed. (Well, I liked them, anyway.)

These days I mostly listen to music from when I was young: The 60s, 70s and early 80s. There was an amazing variety of music on the radio in those days. Rock, Folk, Folk Rock, Pop, Protest Music, R&B, C&W, Disco, New Wave et cetera.

Nirvana Vs Destiny's Child is a particularly good mashup. As is Radiohead Vs Marvin Gaye. :techman:

I also tried to mix one myself - couldn't do it. Failure!

I listen to anything. And I mean it when I say that. From Classical to Death Metal.

Linkin Park is my favorite artist/band.

Last track I listened to was my myspace profile song, "Talk" by Coldplay.

Dodheimsgard Vs. Luther Vandross, Westside Connection Vs. Hank Williams.

Everything that's good. So not much R n' B :p I always enjoy the music created by Yoko Kanno and Thomas Newman.

Damn, I wish I was your lover - Sophie B Hawkins

Kept me company during many growing pains and teenage longings of mine... and the love for it hasn't faded at all, quite the contrary. An unsung classic.

Lots of nostalgia washing over me... wow.

Just discovered this more current duet on YouTube, fab combo, loving it even more.

Hey there,

I remember my first crush, and the song which became associated with my teenage longings at the time was 'Everything But The Girl -- Missing'.

And it still gets me, and brings back all those memories

^ I remember that tune...

Funny how it's possible to associate certain songs so strongly with events/people... music can be such a powerful memory activator. :)

Most recent track I listened to: Christina the Astonishing, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

My taste is pretty eclectic. I can go from Leonard Cohen to Metallica to Elvis Presley to Iron Maiden to Nick Cave to Collective Soul to Johnny Cash. :p

^ Yeah, I agree with that. I listen to a lot of stuff. Progressively, Bluegrass, Folk, 60's Pop/Rock, Glam Rock, Early Punk, New Wave, Synthpop, Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Indie Rock, Indie Pop. I'd like to say Jazz, but I sadly I don't really know a lot about it.

I'm also not adverse to just about anything that has a good catchy tune.

In the last couple of hours I've been listening to The Feelies, Jim O'Rourke, Belle and Sebastian, and a bunch of cheesy 80's pop music. :D

This is really true. Sorry to say it Jonathan Wally, but that's why I can't listen to Type O Negative. Very very bad memories associated with that -- only time I ever hit anybody. ;)

I personally like pop, and am now getting into alternative rock, as well as 80's and 90s tunes. The last song I listened to on my ipod nano was "We Made It" by Linkin Park and Busta Rymes..it's an awesome tune! :) And an example of a typical 80's tune that I listen to is "Two of Hearts" by Stacy Q(I know I'm lame, but I love the beat as well as the music itself!)

I like pretty much anything but listen mostly to Rock (Metal, Hard, Classic), Alternative, and Country.

What music do you people enjoy? What was the last track you intentionally listened to? :)
Last listened to intentionally was either:

The Sweet - 'Sweet F.A.' or
Zappa Plays Zappa (with guests Terry Bozzio and Steve Vai) - 'The Black Page #1 & #2'

I forget which.

I'll listen to pretty much any style or genre, though not to all examples of any given style or genre -- there are good and bad of everything, generally more of the latter than the former.

I can't listen to "Sultans Of Swing." It picked the wrong time to be playing on my car radio (my uncle's car, actually).

My bittersweet first crush song would probably be "Rock Me Gently." Which goes to show how old I am. :rommie:

From 1974? Pfft. I'd have said you were old if you said your first crush song was the Les Baxter version of 'Unchained Melody'. Yeah, that's right, not the Righteous Brothers!

Whew! I'm still young then. I better head back to the "Dating Range" Thread. :D
