I thought I'd make one. Check back daily :)

Maybe others can try their hand at making one? Many themes are possible. :)

That's a nice idea, Jadzia! :techman:

I'm looking forward to what's behind the other doors.

That is very cool.

Just a pity that I'm a day ahead of everyone else and so from my perspective I'm a day behind!

Why no box for the 25th? All the calenders I've had always had one of Christmas Day.

Usually a picture of a baby in a manger. What's that got to do with Christmas anyway? :)

It'll be correct for Europe. I can't keep everyone happy.

I'll do the changes before bedtime GMT, then that'll be mid afternoon for US (day too early). From the Au/Nz perspective, bedtime GMT = mid morning of next day, so their calendar will be appear to be 1 day behind, except for a couple of hours before their midnight, where it will be correct.

If I did the changes mid morning GMT, it'll be better for the US (middle of the night). Although early risers in Europe will have to wait until around lunch time before the day's door opens. For Au/Nz: mid morning GMT = bedtime, so their calendar would be appear 1 day (and sometimes 2 days) behind!

Because you should be unwrapping presents and chewing sprouts and sipping sweet sherry on the 25th, not hidden away in your computer room

On all but one the advent calendars I had as a child, there was no 25th door. :( I'm just sorry I can't give away chocolates behind the doors. :p

I refuse to associate with any Advent Calendar that does not give me chocolate.

I remember when I was about 10, and my mum bought me one of these calendars without chocolates, and I made her get me another :)

In the US, do you have the big tins of quality street chocolates at christmas time?

I don't even know what that means.

Ah, well it must be a British tradition. Basically they're big tins of foil+plastic wrapped chocolates. All sorts of colors and flavor fillings. green triangles, and caramel pennies, etc. Many of the chocolate designs included have been around for 50 years or more, so it's a real family favorite. People now in their 60s can sit down with their grandchildren, and enjoy the same sweet selection they had when they were that age. :)

When I was little (1980s) it used to be 3kg tins, and we had about 30 sweet varieties. Nowadays it's more like 1kg and 10 varieties. Damn cutbacks.

I think it was more the "street" part he was referring to. "Street Chocolates" sounds like something a shifty-looking Swiss guy might sell behind a dumpster in a back alley on the wrong side of the tracks in Zurich.
