THIS would piss me off to no end!

If Star Trek ends with Old Spock (my favorite Vulcan aftershave, BTW "Old Spock: It would be illogical for her to resist you") fiddling with the timeline and the resulting effect would make the entire asthetic of the film (ship designs, uniforms, bridge design, etc.) revert to the '60 TOS feel. I know there are a minority of whack jobs out there that would love that, but if it happens, I will NOT watch, read, or even post about Star Trek ever again. It would indicate that Abrams and Paramount caved in to the canonistas and the inmates truly run the asylum and Trek would be truly deader than dead.

I suspect that nothing that happens in Star Trek XI will piss me off to no end.

And in these parts, that makes me abnormal.

I suppose it's possible that the end of the movie reverts back to original continuity, but it's not going to look like the 60s on TV. No way. No how.

This is assuming it somehow break original continuity outside design aesthetic.

I find it humorous how much people protect and defend a show that barely
kept to it's own continuity within a season. Everything returning to status-quo
by the next week, and a movie can't do that aswell.

To be honest, I guess I would quite literally laugh out loud, imagine the crowd in the cinema, the perplexed WTF?! look on everyone's face at that moment alone would be worth the entrance fee.

(And some twisted, strange part of me would feel... weirdly satisfied and at peace with, you know, everything, in a the-balance-in-the-Force-has-been-restored kind of way. Come to think of it, that is actually quite disturbing.)

Personally I wouldn't mind an ambiguous ending that leaves you wondering if the timeline has been completely restored or not. It would make possible sequels more interesting if you don't know if the characters will make it out alive or not rather than completely restoring the timeline and you know they can't possibly get killed because you know what later happens to them.

Abrams hopefully won't reset everything at the end. That means he would rule out making any further movies in this revised Trek universe, with this cast. He won't do that.

I won't say it would piss me off. But, I will say that I doubt it will happen as well. It would be a pretty good-sized cop out for an otherwise ballsey move. And, a lot of the interviews have the cast and crew hoping for additional movies. Based on that alone, I think JJ will leave everything exactly as he had it in Trek XI.

Same here.

I'm too lazy to dig up the MST3K quote about just relaxing. I will, however, reference it as I just did here, which will fulfill the over-used quotient of said quote, but still allow me to be a lazy ass.

(which is all I care about in the end)
