I enjoy the drink, but don't need it. Well, I only need it right NOW!

Saturday night, the lady made us hot cocoa with double shots of Baileys. It's like I was injected with happy serum.

The rare glass of wine. Did some partying way back when, but even that was pretty mild.

Well, here's the break down.

31% of TrekBBS goers are regular drinkers (several drinks a week)

45% of TrekBBS goers drink sporadically or seldom (special occasions)

24% of TrekBBS goers never drink, or do not drink anymore.

Interesting breakdown, but a rather predictable bell curve. More regular (but not excessive) drinkers like myself than I would have imagined.

How about, a white russian? ;)

Anyway, Captain Morgan is a spiced rum that tastes like candy in just about anything you put it in. A bit too sweet for me.

A white Russian is so mild and creamy it slips down so easy, and with pleasure... I had a Captain Morgan by mistake in a pub not long ago... it was a double... and within minutes I felt nauseas (I had not had anything else to drink before or after)... I believe it's a strong dark rum, right? Very tough on the stomach, I find a nice regular Bacardi is much less intrusive when diluted with a diet coke, the captain Morgan made my coke all foamy, weird smelling, and made my throat raw.

Maybe I would have a different opinion if I had it neat, but so far, NOT very good mixer with coke. I find the best rum mixer with coke to be Malibu - smells nice, doesn't foam or smell weird, and has a nice smooth vanilla sort of flavour when mixed. :D

Captain Morgan is really made to mask the taste of the dark rum with spices and cinnamon. Mixed with coke, it makes the coke taste creamy and sweet (it's not terrible, but not my favorite. I'm like liquors that I can drink straight or on the rocks, like Makers Mark or Bushmills).

Mixed with coke? Bacardi is my favorite mixer for coke because it's very light. Bacardi and diet is probably the lowest calorie alcoholic drink you can consume.

The Captain is an easy drinking light golden spiced rum. Bacardi is shitty rum that needs a mixer to cover it's taste. Appletons is miles better and lately I'm a big fan of sailor jerry's spiced rum. Its delish!

Somebody's drunk thread got me wondering about this. How much? Feel free to post what you're thinking if you're not represented in the poll.
I am not. So I didn't vote.
My drinking is very irregular. I go without it for long periods of time, but when I have a cold, or almost, like now, I have a sip every now and then, and there was a period of a couple of months when I liked to buy about 2 beers a week to drink at home, and I may have a drink with friends although I seldom go out. I also have an average or a half-glass of wine at every family dinner. Over all, not much.
Getting drunk? Can't remember when last time was.
Tipsy? Every once in a long while. I like it.

An Officer, you make it sound like Malibu is rum. Rum is made from sugar cane. Malibu is made from coconut, isn't it? And not made to be drunk alone. The typical mixer.

I don't care for the taste and there has never been any social need for me (I never partied or the last as I was already married before I was 21), plus I don't understand what people think they get from it.

Just another one of those things that will remain a mystery.
